Soooo.....
I was walking through Wal-Mart today, and I called Johnny to ask about a birthday present for a friend of ours (hers is the day after mine). I'm in the electronics department, right by the $5 movies, and I look down to see a crisp, clean $100 on the floor.
What what what???
I look around initially thinking "is this some kind of trap?" but then realizing that the person who lost it might be looking for it. When no one even noticed it was there, I casually picked it up and put it in my pocket. I told Johnny what had just happened and he told me to come home asap.
If it were a wallet, or a check, or something that had some sort of identification, I'd have returned it without even a second thought. But it was cash. If I were to bring it to customer service or ask people if they'd lost it, someone else would have pocketed it. It wouldn't do much good to announce over the PA system, "Um, would the guest who lost the $100 bill please come to customer service?" Riiiiight. I feel guilty, but there was nothing else I could have done, and frankly, we are in dire need of it with this whole family-living-on-a-teacher-salary right now.
I chocked it up to a birthday gift from up above :)
