My manly man rock of Bob Seger, party tunes of the new guy, Jimmy Buffet, and for introspection, the original metrosexual, Jackson Browne.
With college came rock and introduction by roommates into more club rock, I guess it would be called - B-52s, OingoBoingo, Duran-Duran. But I mostly stuck to U-2 and REM who were unknowns at the time. A few years later with crazy fellow summer cops, it was punk and the Dead Milkmen, the Dead Kennedys.
Then came the Miami Vice years, Dire Straits, Glen Frey, Phil Collins, Mike and Mechanics. I was a PI and most of my surveillance video had those tunes playing in the background (my van's radio) much to the professional dismay of my boss who knew those tapes had to be played in a courtroom, LOL!
Heartbreak in my late 20's got me neck deep into Clapton (how cool that you singled out "Old Love" ), Robert Cray (New Blood
, Lyle Lovette ( ' before you go, could I make one little change? I'd like to make that, ................. a ............................. cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessse burger") and the little known Brenden Croker with the Notting Hillbillies - sorry, gotta share this one with you!
ah, you got me started! music is one reason I always loved to drive, the ultimate soundtrack to life. 'scuse me while I go put on some Merle "Think I'll just sit here and drink", LOL!

Brendan has several albums of his own which I bought after hearing this one but this was one of 2 dozen tunes I had to put on my house mix tape that I made before leaving town heartbroken many years ago on a long road trip.
(It came out about the same time Tom Petty created the Traveling Wilburys with Jeff Lynn (ELO) George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Bob Dylan)
Your post inspired me to not only look through my album collection (which I haven't seen in, uh, 20 years, LOL!) but to finally sit down and write up a liner for that homemade tape. I had a blast listening again to the 20 songs I put down in perfect order - and cutting and pasting lyrics to them all. Maybe one day I'll post it as a blog entry - if it doesn't leave you crying from either listening to the songs or reading the lyrics, you are one cold hearted son of a gun!
Amazingly I went to the pub tonite and what played on the juke box? A Doors tune that I haven't heard since my former brother-in-law packed up his reel to reel 35 years ago! Your post itself became a theme for my day!b.
AND, it's nice to talk about something GOOD for a change, ain't it!
