I tend to get to work about a half hour before I have to take the floor (to start work).  During this time, I mentally and emotionally prepare for the day, the best I can without knowing the details.  I finish my coffee and banana, text soldiergirl g'morning, take a deep cleansing breath ... and GO!

I make a conscious effort to leave my personal life and issues off the floor, so that my full attention can be on the 5 or 6 little ones in my care.  I know not everyone takes their job as seriously as I do, and that is OK.  I just have to do it this way.  I have a lesson plan prepared weeks in advance which actually contains ACADEMIC CONTENT!  (I know that is a radical statement from a daycare team leader, but ... :D )

While this is not the career I might choose for myself, and some of you are aware of the struggles I have encountered along the way, I refuse to spend large periods of my life disliking how I spend my time.  I determined to ENJOY my life, my work, my kids ... whatever the season.

When I am released,  and I leave the floor, it takes approximately an hour to cleanse my heart & mind of the day, the kids, the other staff & all the issues of the day.  How do I do this?  Really want to know?  hahaha

AGE OF EMPIRES!

Age of Empires II spans a thousand years,

from the fall of Rome through the Middle Ages

in which players lead one of 13 civilizations into greatness.

Yup, it's true!  I come home from work and play a game ... then I can make supper and continue to parent my adult kids!  lol

How 'bout you?  Do you have a secret method of preparing for or dismebarking from work mode?

Grins.. you made me smile here.

I take my job seriously like you. I like to be there 1/2 hour before the client, to make sure the room is all comfy, the music is on, candles lit, table warmer on, etc.. Then I pray in my room, check messages if I havent already and just shift gears to make my day about each client that walks thru the door that day..and each opportunity. I now have a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to drive home... so .. my 'shift' time is in the truck ... music...or talk radio...got rid of my XM, but sometimes I would tune into the comedy stations. Today on the way home, I talked w/ my mom all the way home..and found when I pulled in the yard I was still in my work 'mode'... so must be the music and not having to interact with anyone is working well for me.

Yes,  I think that is key.  As women, we are called on to wear so many different "hats" (not that men aren't, too), that it does require a transition period between home mode and work mode ... time to digest what is done and shift into what will be needed next.

Thanks for stopping by, Dawn.  Happy Thanksgiving!
