I fed my mother dinner at the nursing home.  It's weird to be the one to feed her now.  It is karma.  She used to do the same for me when I was little. We watched "Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" and were amused by the lil' Loch Ness Monster's antics.  The movie was great and renewed my interest in mythic beasts again (I was obsessed with the Loch Ness Monster when I was 9/10 years old).  Tomorrow is a brother and sister day; me and Mark are going shopping in Appleton or, as I like to call it "hunting for treasure!"  We each are going to find our Mom something weird or unique (hence the "treasure" part).  Of course we're also hunting for gifts for each other.

It's good to get in touch with family every now and then.  Never know how long we have with each other.

I'm trying to convince my brother to watch Flight of the Conchords tonight.  Nothing like great novelty folk music to keep the spirits happy.  The Lord of the Rings and David Bowie parodies are to die for!  *sigh* I love Bret and Jemaine.  They rock my world.  I'm also convinced they'll rock yours, too.

Yep, mothers out there, happy day!  Treat yourselves to the movie and tv series I talked about above.  Nothing like a great fantasy to keep your reality in check, once the little ones are asleep, that is...

Re: What I did for Mom's Day
I will have to watch the movie you suggested for your brother.
I am glad you had such a good time with your mother.
I think mine may surprise me today and am looking forward to that.

*giggles*  !
I love: "What's your name?"
"Bret"
"Brit?"
"No, Bret"
"Brit.  As in Brittany?"
"No, B. R. E. T.  Bret."
"Oh, Bret..."
Gotta love how Americans don't always 'get' the New Zealand accent!

Oh, and also in the same episode:  "Oh, my god, she's so hot...  she's making me sexist."

Glad you had some family time with your mom!

Those guys in Flight of the Conchords crack me up too.

YES.  I can't decide who I like more, Bret or Jemaine.  I exposed my brother to them and he was amused but not as hysterical as I am for them.  The latest issue of BUST had some pin-up pix of the guys that are done just like those old Tiger Beat teen idol sort of photos -- they are to die for.

Re: What I did for Mom's Day
Yeah, I can see how it would be difficult to choose, since the dynamic they have together and the way they play off each other is so amazing.

Did you end up getting a chance to check out Black Books? One of my all time favorite shows.

Re: What I did for Mom's Day
Oh, no, no I haven't yet...  I have, however, been searching for some episodes and been scavenging through used dvd stores for the possible off-chance someone ditched a copy or two.  I'll be going on another "treasure hunt" for dvd's tomorrow.  In any case, thanks for reminding me about the show!  If all else fails, I'll watch more on YouTube!

Re: What I did for Mom's Day
We watched Water Horse a few weeks ago, and Levon is definitely obsessed.
Every time we drive past the lake, he says in his serious man voice "It's out there, somewhere."

Re: What I did for Mom's Day
Oh, that is too cute!  Even when I was Levon's age I felt that the Loch Ness Monster was friendly... there's something so cool about that creature, I just want to hug or pet it.  Tell him Auntie Val said, "Yes, Levon, somewhere it's out there!"

I'm glad you and your mom spent a nice day together.  I liked studying about Nessie, too.  However my big obsession when I was a kid was the Bermuda Triangle.

Re: What I did for Mom's Day
Thanks!  It was peaceful.
Oh, yes, definitely, I can see that.  I was also totally hooked onto that show that Lenord Nemoy narrated -- I bet you were, too (?)  Besides Nessie and the Triangle, it was Amelia Earhart's disappearance, too, for me.
