Yesterday five tornadoes touched down all within a few miles from my town. Pretty exciting. The hail came down so fast it looked like it was snowing! I don't have any pictures to show you because I spent the storm indoors in my basement apartment. It seems like nature doesn't want me to move just yet. Just about everytime I want to get my things out, it's been raining or my brother is having me help watch after his kids. So here I am today chilling out with my nephews. I checked the national news today and it seems weird that Wisconsin Rapids (a town just south of Stevens Point) made headlines. They got the largest amount of hail -- about golf ball and football sized, big enough to do some major damage to windows and cars. I'm not used to seeing hometown news coverage on the national news shows. It gives me that surreal kind of "it's a small world" feeling, know what I mean? For pix of the big hail damage that affected one of my pals in Rapids, check this out: babyblueeyesok 's pix storm damage

Re: Survived the Big Storm
I'm glad you're alright! To me tornadoes are scarier than hurricanes because they come out of nowhere.  At least you get to spend time with your adorable nephews!

Exactly! I've survived some big storms, too. I used to live in Springfield, Missouri and we once got hit with eight tornado touch downs in one night. Ugh! Up here in Wisconsin folks take for granted that tornadoes are nothing to scoff at.
Yep, my nephews are great. I'm here with the younger one who is showing me his progress in a game called "Fire emblem" and the other one takes after me in the fact that he's still snoozing in bed!

*hugs* glad you are okay.  When I saw the weather report for your area last night I was worried.  Kenosha got off easy- a lot of rain, some 70 mph winds but that was it.

Re: Survived the Big Storm
thanks! I almost got stuck outside, too! I just barely got in the door when the tornado sirens went off. Then I quickly made sure the cats from upstairs were safe (they were already hiding under furniture the smart kittys!) and sank into bed in the basement. I couldn't believe the hail! it was wild

yeah, you guys did get off easy, thank the gods!

The only thing we got was heavy rain. Our lights flickered for a small amount but it was exciting. What a powerful energy.

Re: Survived the Big Storm
It was definitely a wonderful storm.  I enjoyed it and only worried about the cats upstairs, but animals have a way of finding their own security during bad weather.  My friends in neighboring towns got hit hard by the hail!
