WE got 12.5 inches this weekend (in snow, that is!) and there's not much to do.  Each night I can hear the snow plows thundering down the street and vibrating the house.  I went outside for a short time and took the above photos -- all at night.  I haven't seen this much snow since the early '90s.  Now it really feels like Northern Wisconsin again.  The new theme I've designed for my blog features a background made from the third photo above -- the blizzard at night up close and personal.  Those snow flakes were REALLY HUGE.

I'd write more but I forgot to buy toilet paper, and since I live in a small town where most department stores close by 10pm, I have to run.  Otherwise I'll be wiping my bottom with newspaper... not a pleasant prospect!

Thoughts for the day:

1.  I find that dark purple nail polish looks best against a snowy background.

2.  I'm still not finished with my comic book and it's a real source of stress for me right now.

3.  Eddie Murphy SHOULD have won Best Supporting Actor on Sunday.

4.  If I don't get out of my seat right now I'll miss my ride.

5.  I wish I had more time!

Toilet paper...definitely more important than blogging! Sometimes it really is the little things that make a difference, heh heh.

Yeah, and when I hit the store I found THEY WERE OUT OF TP!  Agh!  So I ended up grabbing whatever I could grab from a public restroom and hit a different department store the next morning.  Since we're now in yet another winter storm warning, the stores were all almost out of toilet paper.  I had to go to a store across town to get a decent yet small, single person sized amount of toilet paper, otherwise it meant taking a trip to the local Walmart (which is out on the highway and not within walking distance) and buy a big 24 pack of TP.  I made the folks at the nearest grocery store go into the back stockrooms to get me a four pack of Scotty TP.  Then I had to wait about twenty minutes in line.  Everyone was stocking up on things.  Lucky me managed to do her supply shopping way before the first storm we had, but all I needed was toilet paper and yet had to wait in long line even in the express lane.  OH, well, at least I've got butt wiping comfort now

Re: Snowed in like a crazy woman!
Why, thank ya, lady!  I've got more photos tonight.  We got a second snow storm today which is supposed to last until Friday evening -- that means another 8 to 12 inches of snow!  Yike.  And no matter what direction you walk in, the snow blasts you in the face.

I am now snug and warm in a nice, dry computer lab!

Re: Snowed in like a crazy woman!
You have gorgeous nails. I wish that I could get mine to grow out and stay nice.  In the summer they tend to grow faster but I haven't had long nails in 9 years.   I'd always had nice nails with gorgeous moons on them but after a huge period of stress they started getting brittle and began to peel despite any of the hard as nails crap I painted on, knox gelatin I used,  or nail conditioning treatments I wasted money on.  Now when they grow out and I can resist tearing them off (i bite an edge and then tear across when stressed)

I had to buy tp last night too.  I had used two rolls making easter baskets out of tp, glue, water, purple food coloring, and crochet thread before realizing that the closet supply was empty.

Re: Snowed in like a crazy woman!
Thanks!  I used to not care as much for my nails, however I must have good genes when it comes to finger nails -- they tend to grow very fast and very long and so I used to trim them constantly, however they do tend to get brittle.  I once worked as a nail technician, so I learned that it's not "hard as nails" or knox gelatin that can get your nails to grow fast and strong, but moisturizing and massaging the cuticle and nail bed area each night with green tea or lavender oil.  Soaking is also good and trimming them often makes them grow back harder.  I also found out that OPI's "Nail Envy" is by far the best formula on the market for strengthening nails (but it's a wooping $14.95 yet well worth the price).  I, too, find that my strongest nail growth happens during the warmer months because that's when you tend to get more sunlight.  Vitamins D and E are esstenial for nail growth and strength, too, so increasing those vitamins into a diet supplement also tends to encourage nail growth.

Oh, and I, too, tend to get that "tear" syndrome with my nails -- that usually occurs when you not only have stress problems but digestive ones, too.  Examining your nails is a good indication whether or not you're absorbing nutriets well in your diet.  My nails tend to break and tear when I'm not hydriated enough or whenever I am not eating properly (in other words, not getting enough vitamins).  Winter is especially hard on nails, so I trim them a lot during colder months.  However, I've also discovered that filing my nails only in one upward direction tends to guard against tears, too.  I also carry with me wherever I go a small nail and cuticle cutter/clipper for those times when I get a break.

Somehow this last month I managed to finally get my nails at an equal length.  There are times when one nail breaks or tears and then another one does (usually during a seasonal change) and then they are all out of order length wise which kinda looks weird.  Lately I've been obsessed with the appearance of my nails.  I think this happened out of boredom last summer.  I just decided that I had enough not pampering myself and needed to feel pretty again.  That, and there's not much to do in Stevens Point, especially when all my closest friends are faraway!

I went to the store for tp and found they were out!  So I stole as much as I could from a public restroom, but then realized that I should've just bought a box of kleenex (I did both) and waited til the next morning to hunt some down.  All that was left in the local stores were the mega 24 packs of tp.  I have only one ass to wipe, so all I need and can afford at this time is just a simple four pack of tp.  I made a guy go retrieve some for me from their back stock room.  Seems people had stocked up a bit before the winter storm we're under right now!

Oh, well.  At least my ass is happy now

I'm glad that your ass is happy.  Smiley

Re: Snowed in like a crazy woman!
Thanks!  I think the worst thing is to use something other than toilet paper to wipe.  The most coarsest thing I ever had to use was that recycled hard brown newspaper they use to package fish and sandwiches in from a corner market.  Ugh.  That or coffee filters!

Re: Snowed in like a crazy woman!
Wow, really?  I envy you

You'd have a lot of fun in Wisconsin.  Most people who visit here tend to love the snow but then that grows old real fast when you realize that IT NEVER SEEMS TO GO AWAY!  We've had snow sometimes all the way into May.  Yowsers!

However, I'd miss it if I lived somewhere without the white stuff.

I was so happy that Alan Arkin won though. Little Miss Sunshine is a beautiful film.

Re: Snowed in like a crazy woman!
Yeah, yeah, I agree with you.  I was pleased with Alan Arkin finally winning an oscar, but I'm also pretty loyal to Eddie!  I was rooting for Little Miss Sunshine to win Best Picture, too.  I didn't like The Departed as much.  I think it's because of the time I met Leo -- he was kinda a jerk (this was BEFORE Titantic, however, in an acting class) and I never really knew why...  so I avoided him.
