I LOVE LOVE LOVE the very first one, and the very last one most of all! But I like all of them in that they're very expressive, and each one is an entity in and of itself. And I had to snicker at the one who looks like Divine. LOL

Glad you likey! I so got into creating these guys, I was in a trance while drawing and painting them. I was also watching the entire TWIN PEAKS TV series and barely remember watching it because I my attention was on this.
The Divine inspired one was so much fun to do!
You have such an incredibly original style that i'd probably recognize your work if I came across it. Which one day I probably will cuz you definitely need to be going places with your art. The way you color the characters and the way you bring them to life is just awesome.
Thanks so much! I think the key to my originality is finally just ignoring what other artists and teachers tell me how to paint and just painting the way I WANT TO. For a long while I was a student. It was hard to get out of the mold. Now my characters are coming out better than ever and the response I'm getting confirms that. I hope more people pipe up and tell me what they see in their eyes!
You made HWMNBN old and gave him glasses! *giggles uncontrollably* I'm guessing that that fairy has the power to look at the world and imagine that everyone is in love with it. Oops I said that out loud. I'm having a really nasty tempered day.
Yep, that's the condescending face -- a sort of mix of HWMNBN and my Aunt Madge -- the sort of sour face that holds you in check.
You're having a nasty tempered day? I'm having one of those "I'm not supposed to be here today" days (ala Dante from "Clerks") at my friend's store (she wanted to sleep in today and has a bad tummy ache, I don't mind coming in but my attitude is growing sour because as soon as I looked up at the snow coming down in a hurry outside, I just got all sorts of tired and just want to crawl into bed and don't want to deal with customers who are only coming in to buy small, diddily squat things -- I'm like "yes, folks, I'm only here for the hippies buying incense and tiny brass bells today, now if you aren't buying anything more, go away").
I wanted to go shopping for a humidifier but can't find the one I want. My sinuses are so drrrrrrryyyyyyyyy!
So I'm Whiny Val today.

and after the crap jake pulled this afternoon, I'm happy for any love I can get... will fill you in on the full details later. I need a sleeping pill and a long night's sleep
Here's hoping you get some nice sleep! I'll keep posted on your progress. I've got a lot to post tonight -- that should give you plenty of fun stuff to look at when you get back online and refreshed.
I was worried about you. I think it was around Sunday night that I suddenly got sad and just started weeping, like loud very upset weeping and my first thought was that you were not feeling good. Remember you always got an outlet with me! I'll pray things get better. Sometimes good sleep makes things better!
My personal favourite among the originals is the one with the moon crescent on her forehead. I think that your idea for making them into a divination card game is fantastic!
I like that one, too. It's been very addictive coming up with new faces. They just spring out from the paper and it's so quick to paint them. I hope I can get them published someday. I've got so many projects on the back burner!
You so need to get them published. I would be your first enthusiastic customer! Actually... how much would you charge?
Hmmmm.... I'm not sure! But, yes, I have to get them, like many other things I do, published. I'll have to write about my experiences in the publishing world soon. It's a tad complicated and I'm not sure I'm ready yet to sell the paintings, but when I do, it'll be accompanied by a book detailing what each card means and etc. -- I guess you'll have to keep tuned in to my blog for updates and further progression of the project. Sorry! But *fingers crossed* I have a good feeling about this!
