I didn't realize how extensive Adam Baldwin's acting career is until I sat down tonight to create a Mindsay wiki page tribute to him.  Infact I had almost forgotten that I've seen Adam in so many films -- including seeing him on the big screen in his debut role in "My Bodyguard" when I was only 9 years old, yeah, way back in 1979!  After reviewing the original trailer, seeing 16 year old Adam really brought back so many memories.  So besides doing the usual "yeah, here's one of my favorite actors" things with a wiki page (like every other fan has done online), I was inspired to write an original article in tribute.  I attempted to hyper link as many films and sites as possible to give you, the reader, a complete-as-possible biography.  But more than a bio, I wrote a few things in response to some of the quotes by Adam I've found online.  I realized, yet again, that you can't get to know someone just by the body of their work alone.  Adam's an actor, but he's a real person, too, and I respect that immensely.

But at the same time, I gotta admit that I spent waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time developing that page.  As well as completing a few more focusing on the Firefly/Serenity cast:  Sean Maher and Gina Torres.

My other cast member pages are: Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Summer Glau, and Nathan Fillion.

(If you're a fan, be sure to add some of these actor/resses to your favorites list in your Mindsay profile!)

And in keeping with the theme I began with each additional actor wiki I've mentioned, I have to say that Adam Baldwin reminds me of freshly cut green grass, Spanish moss, green tea, black leather, new car smells, and the way the paper of old books feel when I page through them really fast.  Most people would say that Adam is all brawn, but I sense his intelligence.  His forehead is very broad, his eyes glinting with the sort of cocky wisdom that can take you by surprise -- you can't blow this kind of character off!  Maybe you'll pick up on that, too.  That is, if you indulge my habit of making these wiki pages.

Sean Maher reminds me of urban landscape paintings, a night club pulsing with a techno beat, cranberry juice, wool knit sweaters, and the brightest blue of midday sunlit sky.

Gina Torres makes me think of honeybees, sunflowers, coconut oil body lotion, Grecian urns, and the bubbles in amber.  Gina's look has long inspired me to write about the sunflower nymph Clytie, too.

I have a deep appreciation for actors and their performances very much influence my storytelling style.  For instance, while I was compiling information for the Adam Baldwin wiki, he started to remind me of one of my characters in a series of fable-like stories I wrote about five or six years ago and this has inspired me to review/edit that story.  He's not the only actor that inspires me, and not all of them starred in Firefly, of course, but that's why I do these things...  it's not just the fan in me, it's the writer and designer.  I'm glad I could share my tributes with you and hope they inspire you to take another, deeper, look at people you may write off as just another celebrity.

What will my next wiki pages be about?  Ron Glass (to finish up the Firefly cast wikis, of course), Metalocalypse, and Lizette& -- but it might take a few more weeks for those to come about.  I'm not that obsessive of a fan!

My Bodyguard! I still laugh when I think of Matt Dillon's character getting his nose broken in that..."YOU BROKE BY DOSE!"

I know!  I know!  It's hilarious.  I picked it up from the video store last night and had a good laugh.

There's another Adam Baldwin film called "3:15" that I want to track down.  It's another high school gang drama sort of film where Adam plays a guy out for revenge.  I think he got piegon-holed into those kind of roles because he's such a big guy.  I also loved him in "D.C. Cab!"  He's one of those actors who has been in a lot of small and big dramas, always the tough guy.  Only once have I see him play a more cerebral character in a little movie called "Evil Eyes" co-starring Udo Keir (another favorite character actor of mine).  Udo plays the devil who hires Adam to write a screenplay about a director who killed his family.  It's slow moving, but enjoyable just to see Udo play another baddie and Adam get all emotive in a more surreal way.
