Re: I need help deciding something! Please help!
i don't know much about computers... so i can't really help you pick one out. But i can suggest that if it's possible to not get window's vista. It's a pain in the arse, and it probbably will be untill they get rid of the bugs. It won't even let me connect my brand spankin new printer to my computer. And the internet will stop working randomly.... and the sound stopped working because i downloaded iTunes [thank god for tech support]

don't get me wrong, it has cool features... but it also has a huge amount of bugs.

but that's just a suggestion

and if you do get one with vista, get the thinggie where you can call anytime for computer help [unless you're completly computer savvy]

hahhaha, thank you for the advice lol. I guess I will stay away from it.

I was kinda skeptical on whether or not to have it because my friend has it and he says it's awesome and it's completely fine. but it's 6132-1 on this one... cuz he's the only person I know without vista problems.

For the use that you decribed that you need a laptop for, I wouldn't go out and spent that much money.  Get something a little more simple and save some of your student loan money.  I own both a Compaq (cost $650) and a Toshiba (cost $900) and they work great for everything I need them for.  In fact I like my Compaq considerably better.  I have Windows Vista and Office 2007 and have had no issues with them - in fact I like them as well.

I honestly wouldn't spend so much money.  It's not worth it.  Your computer will be obsolete within a couple years and you'll be wanting a new one.

Hmm... I haven't really looked for compaq... I'll definately head into it! Thank you. It's just cuz I'll be moving around alot so I need something small for school and I'll be doing alot with it.

Re: I need help deciding something! Please help!
I'm a full time student, I travel a lot, and I work full time.  My laptop goes absolutely EVERYWHERE with me.  I do everything from write papers, watch dvds, burn music, play games, to designing webpages.  Just because something is expensive, it doesn't make it any better.

What kind of compaq and Toshiba do you have?
Fairydustings on
Re: I need help deciding something! Please help!
The compaq is a presario C500 and the toshiba is at the girlfriend's house so I'm not sure of the model, but it's the one at wal-mart of $898.00.  Both of my laptops were bought at wal-mart.  I think that buying a laptop at somewhere like wal-mart or best buy is just as good or better than buying them custom made online from the manufacture's website.

True. I'm also gonna be using photoshop and Sony Acid Music player Can it handle those? I think it can but I don't know.

Re: I need help deciding something! Please help!
yeah - they can handle them just as well as any other computer

Sweet! I decided to postpone the laptop thing. But imma go for a cheap compaq one.

Good Deal - I learned a long time ago that the most expensive things in life are not always the best or even better - but rather simply the most expensive - period!
