"W" (2008)

Whether you love him or hate him, there is no question that George W. Bush is one of the most controversial public figures in recent memory. In an unprecedented undertaking, acclaimed director Oliver Stone is bringing the life of our 43rd President to the big screen as only he can. W takes viewers through Bush’s eventful life -- his struggles and triumphs, how he found both his wife and his faith, and of course the critical days leading up to Bush’s decision to invade Iraq.

Where have I been? I must be the last person in the world to hear about this. It can't be accurate... it would be banned by someone or other.

Where have you been?  Not reading enough newspapers...hahaha

Of course it won't be completely accurate (see JFK); however, the Bushs' are going to hate this, for sure!  Even if it wakes people up a little about Bush being a dry drunk, that might help.  The so-called party of family values might be tweaked a little...

I does look interesting. And I loathe Bush. But like you said, he's going to be remembered. As twisted as it may sound, I think he's probably really as loved as he is hated. I know many people that were among peers denouncing Bush, and ended up being the ones that voted him back in!

I also loathe Bush/Shrub/Bushie and even though I am a little older than him, and could be sort of counted among his peers, there is no way in hell that I voted for him...nor any of my friends from out in Northern California.  Unfortunately, I think some of my family in Memphis and Philadelphia have voted for him...uck!  But  yeah, I will most likely see the film, as I respect Oliver Stone's visions, even if I know they are not always accurate - but that's OK, they are films...and I do want to see Bushie portrayed as a drunk, which is what I consider him to still be, albeit a dry one.

Whoops, I meant my peers! Lots of people I work with, and *gulp* some of my own family! And still..... I think it would be an interesting way to spend a few hours. Whether you think it's really inaccurate or right on the money, you're going to be talking about it. I like movies like that.

haha...some of HIS peers too, but not me...;~)  And yes, *gulp* some of my own family as well.

You are right - it's going to be a controversial film, and therefore should open discussions...but I daresay, not many of those who voted for him will be going to see the film.  I also like that kind of movies.
