A wonderful role model...he reminds me to go the high road. Sometimes I get really angry with the current administration, as you know. I wish I were a bigger person and could just see the other side as flawed, instead of truly evil...
That's exactly what I just said to Tiedie. He reminds me to be a bigger, better person, when I get angry at the current administration.
I think he is a great man for society. I wouldn;'t want him as my father but he is good for society lol
Yes, a great man for society and a role model. Unfortunately, all of us are flawed. Probably Woody was more flawed as a parent than Pete, don't you think?
Woody was a terrible parent...
I wouldn't have like Pete because he seems so self righteous at least in concert compared to Arlo who is forgiving.
Woody was very irresponsible.

That's what I thought. I saw Bound for Glory years ago, but I forget lots. I should watch it again. Also, as soon as Pete's documentary comes out (Power of Song), I will order it from Netflix and watch it again. I love Arlo, and we've seen him a few times.
Wow. I think he is close to 90. I was just listening to "What did you learn in school" while I was cleaning up the dishes.
I think he's 87. His wife (you might want to see the documentary about them) had some broken ribs or something, so he stays close by home these days. Plus I think he had some heart surgery himself. He is inspirational to me. I wish I could always say positive, good things about others, even if they are really horrible people (you can't imagine who I am thinking of). I need to tweak my thinking so that it can be like that. It's what I work towards...my spouse is more like that, being a good Quaker.
The Documentary was in 2007: Pete Seeger - the Power of Song. You can probably get it on Netflix now. (just checked - it's not quite out yet, but soon...)
The documentary was running on PBS for quite some time, as they repeat their shows so much. It was so inspirational to me that I might actually buy it when it comes out.
Fantastic, Mikey. I just added it to my favorites on YouTube. And that was an extra-special happy birthday present for me - thanks!
I enjoyed the video, but the song itself is very relevant, and to more things than just the occupation of Iraq.
Then you might understand this: I'm really not an old hippie. That's too restrictive. However, you could call me an old folkie. I began going to coffee shops (not like they are nowadays - they would always have folk singers there in the late 50s and 60s) in high school. We called ourselves Bohemians then, or Beatniks...which morphed somehow into something slightly different with the hippies.
