she has a nice "finger legato"
you must be so proud!

Is that what she's practicing? (I had to look up the finger legato thing) I'm very flute-clueless. I enjoy hearing her play... sometimes I get a little teary. :0)
She goes to a performing arts high school and her band and flute instructors are "very excited" about her. I can almost feel the cool breeze of a college full-ride onthe horizon... HURRAY!!!!
I just remember when I took clarinet, the teacher said I was always too quick or too slow on my keys..I had to learn patience..didn't do so well..
your daughter on the other hand is remarkable..
and to help with that college thing, get her to come up ideas for spontaneous performances with others in very public places for free..
tape them to demonstrate that she's willing to share her gifts to society in the name of art..
in a nutshell, get her willing to do more than other competitors for those scholarships..

This Summer she and her twin sister (the violinist) played their instruments at the metro station by my job. Flute girl enjoyed it more than VG... VG kept saying she felt like a beggar. I told her that maybe if she tried combing her hair before she went out and wearing something other than raggedy jeans, she might not feel that way. FG, on the other hand, was VERY pleased with the money she made. They made roughly $600-ish all together. (Maybe playing three hours a day for a total of five/six days... maybe - and not three hours in a row either)
