Someone watching over you

Recently I went to the lake near my home to take pictures.At the lake, I found a patch of yellow iris at the edge of the lake.  I had never seen these before at the lake.  As I moved closer, a black bird with red under it's wings captured my attention. It seemed to be hurt, but flew out of range any time I moved toward it.  Soon I noticed a pattern. If I moved closer to the bed of iris, then the bird came back to distract me.  And then I noticed the small brown bird attending a nest in the middle of the iris bed. It is nice to know someone is watching over you and taking care of you. I am envious.
