I have been sucked into the full reality of adulthood as of late, dealing with selling my house in Las Vegas and buying a property in Portland. Then we returned from Portland and it was time to do the taxes!  And  I brought back a bug from Portland that went throught the house like a plague, everyone puking and pooping for two weeks straight. Plus, we had an open house and sold our house in 2 weeks, which is unheard of in the Las Vegas market. Great, it sold, but now we have to move out by the end of this month, so then we had to look for an apartment!!!  This has been one huge rollercoaster ride, and it's not over yet. Any wonder why I haven't had time to blog??? Between meeting with Lenders, Real Estate Agents, Apartment Management, etc. and filling out beaucoup paperwork, working on credit scores, writing letters to BFE about fuckall, packing all our shit, working on renovations for the new house, trying to do my job and take care of my family, who has time to do this? Not me. In fact, this will be my last post until June, when we're set up in Oregon. My computer goes into storage on Friday and I won't see it again until then. So, I am cramming lots of pix and and ramblings to make up for lost time.

New Orleans Spring Break, 2007
FINALLY, I am going to get the chance to post the pictures from my trip with Environgirl and Myclette, my two awesome girlfriends. I had a great time with them, even though the stress of driving made me a little loopy. The point was to spend quality time with two of the people who mean a lot to me, so mission was accomplished. So, we stayed in the Bates Motel- so what, we were in the French Quarter!

This is the Voodoo Spirtual Temple, my favorite place we visited during our trip. Forget Madame Leveaux's, that place was WHACK, there is some bad mojo workin' in there, stick to this one instead.

This is the display window at the Voodoo Spiritual Temple.

Here's me, smirking with a Mimosa. I am so hardcore!

Me in the Gumbo Shop, paying homage to all that is unholy.

Environgirl at Cafe Remoulade, looking sassy!

I believe this is in the Gumbo Shop. Look at the dude in the background, checking us out...

Here's Myclette at Cafe Remoulade. Isn't she lovely??

The New Orleans Rollergirls. Are they HOT or what??? Damn, don't do it like that baby!! (A cookie for anyone who remembers that saying...)

Portland Spring Break 2007

Ray, Skye & Me on our new front lawn! :) So this is the property (brick on the left) we bought in Portland to use as a live/work space. It was a nursing home! We adore it. It's located in the Hawthorne District, which is exactly where we wanted to live. Everything is walking distance.

Skye & me walking around in the backyard. That's a huge walnut tree. As you can see from the back, the new place is huge, 4,000 square feet. From the front it's deceptively small. Gotta love that outside fireplace!

Skye makes a wish. Shouldn't she be holding Wishbear instead of Funshine??

Las Vegas House 2007

Okay, here's our house in Vegas. I wanted to document all of the hard work we put into making it a showplace. Our house sold in 2 weeks in a market where the average selling time is 9 months to a year, and here's why...

Here is the Master Bathroom.

Here's the kitchen.

Aww! I'm gonna miss that house!  The property in Portland is nice and isn't Skye a cutie pie????

I loved that Voodoo temple, too. Priestess Miriam was sooooo nice! I wish I could see her again.

Tammie is going trip when she see's you've posted.  The three of us probably need to call each other soon. There's been so much DRAMA going on with all of us! Sheesh!

Jenai graduates June 12- my offer is still open if you want to stay at our apartment to save $$, but you'll have to camp out in the living room!

Heard about your situation, hope you find a solution REAL SOON.

Hugs!

Beautiful house! Here in NY,  you dont get to choose this kind houses.. When I was looking for this kind of houses in Long Island .... the price range from 600 to 800 thousand in average so .. we went for an old house  Are you moving somewhere nearby?

The little girl in the picture is gorgeous! loved that picture!

Old houses can be great- the house we bought in Portland was built in 1949 (and still has some of the original fixtures!) NY is a really tough real estate market. My oldest daughter is moving there and I think she is in for sticker shock when she starts looking for apartments.

The little girl in the picture is our youngest daughter Skye, thank you for the compliment!

Porland's a great city and the Hawthorne district is where I was aiming last year when contemplating a Portland move.  I hope you love it there.

I am so excited about this move. It was four years in the making! We think it is the perfect city for us. We had narrowed our choices down to Hawthorne and Alberta districts, but Alberta is too expensive right now.

Good luck with the moves and everything.  The new house looks amazing and what a great history.  Your old house, from the front, looks like mine (Phoenix area).  Geat pictures of your trip too.

Thanks so much. It has been a lot of work, but I am keeping the end in sight- I know it will be worth it.
Once we're in Oregon, I'd like to document the remodeling of our house, so I'll be blogging about it starting in June (knock on wood!) There is quite a lot of refurbishing that needs to be done, mostly cosmetic, but all time consuming.
