In this week’s episode of Doctor Who, the title role of "The Doctor’s Daughter" is being played by the adorable actress Georgia Moffett. There is much speculation about where this mysterious insta-child sprang from. Nevermind the plot (or probably lack thereof) here is what has me full of fangirl glee-

In real life, her father is Peter Davison. He played the fifth incarnation of The Doctor.

Her mother is Sandra Dickinson. She played Trillian in the BBC tv version of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. (AKA the tv series of DOOM!!)

You may not be aware of this, but Trillian is one of my all time favorite fictional characters. Learn something new every day, dontcha?

So, this makes the actress playing the Doctor’s daughter the real daughter of The Doctor and Trillian.

Someone may have once said something to me about not confusing fiction and reality, but I don't think I was listening at the time.

I’m not even going to watch the episode, because nothing the writers can dream up can possibly compare with that lineage.

I am tickled for you.

I am also trying to decide how to decorate my blog when I turn 42.  I want a big HGttG theme but not from any of the adaptations. Straight from the book.

I think it'd be fun.

Technically, the books were an adaptation of the original radio series... < /pedant >

That could be the shiniest blog theme in the history of ever. Because you are one hoopy frood who definitely knows where your towel is.

Cyclone called from the shower the other night that he knew where HIS towel was, too. I have an incredibly hoopy frood for a kid.

No! Really? The novel was an adaptation? I am crushed.  BUT! Does the radio production have visuals I can use?  Hm?

Yes, you do. Don't forget, it's almost Towel Day!

The first radio series was in 1978, it was so popular that he wrote and published the first book the next year- after that it gets a bit muddled, with some books coming before the corresponding radio version, some after, and sometimes going in such different tangents that they can hardly be considered the same thing.

Visuals- well, just like the books there are the cover pictures from the cd releases of the Guide radio series. Different pictures for each phase- the Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Quandary and Quintessential.
