Melanie Phillips defines Islamism (as opposed to Islam/Mohammedanism) and liberalism. Basically she calls Islamism a political ideology based on Islam and Wahabbism school of thought. Phillips’ definition of liberalism is in the classical sense. Classical liberalism is closer to what Americans would call the conservative movement.

The Phillips essay is an awesome analysis of how radical Islamism takes advantage of classical liberalism. Worse classical liberalism maintains that radical Islamists in the West (or in Britain in Phillips’ case) should have their freedom of expression even if it means the demise classical liberalism.

READ THE ESSAY.

Re: Liberalism v Islamism
Pretty powerful words. I absolutely agree with everything the essay says but would like to point out the irony. Christianity is nothing more than the belief in theocracy. It is no different than what the Muslims are trying to achieve. The only difference is that fanatical Muslims want to establish a theocracy in our lifetime as opposed to in our next lives. Christians believe that we should not only serve a dictator (you call God) but that we should actually worship Him while He commits the worst example of genocide in the history of mankind. Anyone who refuses to accept Jesus as the Christ (and surrender to His will) shall face the fires of hell. If your religion is as true as you say it is it can easily be compared to the Islamism that you speak of. The knowledge of good and evil is what separates us from God and is the reason a 3rd of Gods angels turned against God risking a fate worse than death if they were to lose. The devil is not some pure evil creature that just wants to kill everyone in site. He is a freedom fighter who is willing to kill to defend his beliefs. A third of Gods angels agree and so do I. The right to be a fool is worth fighting for and a permanent theocracy is worth fighting against. God may be king (and the creator) but if He's wrong, who the fuck cares?

Re: Liberalism v Islamism
What you say of theocracy is true. The Christian theocracy is a future tense with Jesus Christ as King. The genocide acusation is not accurate. In Christian theology human death is eliminated permenantly in Christ's theocracy. The is what is termed the "first death." The "Second death" has nothing to do with the cessation of life, merely the quality of life. The "Second Death" is permanent separation from the Presence of God and are committed ultimately to join the originator of the "first death," the Deceiver Satan who deceived a third of the angels who will joing Satan and all who reject Christ in the "Second Death" of separation.

All of humanity would share the same fate because Eve was deceived as a third of the Angels; however God chose to set the power of mercy in motion with a promise: the seed of the woman would crush Satan's head underneath humany's feet. Notice the promise is to the woman. Eve was deceived Adam was not. Adam willingly and knowingly joined Eve's deception giving the Earth's and humanity's stewardship to Satan. Thus the seed could not come from a human male but from God Himself. That seed became the Incarnate God who emptied His Divine attributes to be clothed in the corporeal flesh of man from the womb of a woman.

O yes, in radical Islamism the woman is chattel and those that do not believe the words of a man who heard voices in a cave to conquer, rape and murder and force others to believe the words from the cave (or was it in Mohammed's delusion mind minus his meds).

Let every man be a liar for God is always truthful, and those who do not believe will be eternally separated from him - those will people will care.

Re: Liberalism v Islamism
I find it interesting how different two people can percieve things. There seems to be no getting through to you as I'm sure you feel about me. The difference is you go to Heaven and I go to Utopia (and maybe eventually to Heaven). You might say that for me to actually believe that I'm going to Utopia (a place I essentially made up) is absurd until you fully understand that this is almost entirely what my life has been about since I first went insane. I've come to believe it actually. In my mind Le-way gives me the purpose and meaning to my life that Christianity simply isn't capable of offering. A long time ago I determined that Christianity wasn't fair and therefore a bunch of crap. Le-way is my solution. It's everything that's fair to me and I can think of no other scenario worth praying for or believing in. I wish you the best! You essentially wish me to hell by being a Christian. It's too bad you don't realize that... See ya!

Absolutely do I not wish you to hell! Utopia is a man-made dream that will never be attained. Heaven is a spiritual reality that will some day conjoin to a New Earth and a New Heaven (maybe tomorrow). My dearest prayer is for you call upon the name of Jesus Christ (at the very least with your dieing breath) and find Glory in Jesus Christ the Savior.

The reson liberals support Islam is easy.  It is the anthesis of Christianity...  Any foe of Christianity is an ally of extreme liberals...  It takes only 20 words to describe the problem...

I guess I will take that as an endorsement???

Re: Liberalism v Islamism
Yep, only thing I question is why it takes more than 20 words but if you are trying to explain it to an extreme liberal it may take a thesis...

I can agree with that.
