I saw this bulletin board in a classroom the other day and I thought it would be a good idea to share. I plan on using it in my classroom next year.

Bulletin Board: Advice From Former Students

At the end of the year, have students write one piece of advice they have for your students next year. These pieces of advice can be written on colorful index cards or small colorful pieces of paper. Create a bulletin board to display all of the advice (good and bad) to your new students for the new school year. Students will like hearing from former students about what your class will be like. They'll know what to expect.

Re: Bulletin Board Idea: Advice From Former Students
Have any of you checked out knapsacksofhope ?  I'm asking because we are trying to get a handwritten letter to add to each knapsack.  I contacted the 5th grades of a local middle school and they are going to have each 5th grader write a letter to go in our knapsacks.  We are needing about 1200 letters so if you could get your classes to participate that would be great.

I had my kids create letters today. That'll be about 100 cards. We will also  be collection items for a knapsack. Thank you for this wonderful idea!!!

I love this idea. One of my teachers in grade school employed this idea, and I thought it was both cute and informative. It helped out a great deal! And we were all very eager at the end of the year to participate in this activity! It was like our last assignment of the year =)

This sounds very similar to something my company just implemented for the site, GradSchools.com.  It's a section where former or previous grad students offer advice to future students, to help prepare them.

Excellent idea.
