I talk about my day working in the organic garden, it was so much fun!

Steve and Brenden enjoy making up a fresh batch of compost!

Hola Tammy,

Listening to your blog reminds me of the summer garden you have at home.  I know that you'll bring back all kinds of good ways to keep insects off of our herbs and veggies besides buying ladybugs!  I'm glad that you are loving it there.  The pharmacist at Burke's said that she stopped by Costa Rica on a cruise that she was on and that it was beautiful.

Organic gardens are so fantastic! And hands-on experience is something that can never be substitued for, that's for sure. Keep having fun!

I almost feel like I am learning more with a semester of hands on experiences than I did in two years of attending lectures.  I can't stop having fun here!  Thanks for reading!

Cool!

Organic farming sounds really neat.  The challenge of farming using only the resources of the land creates some fascinating methods.  It also forces the farmer to think hard and be creative.  Definitely more fun than just spraying manufactured chemicals.  I can see why you want an organic farm.

Re: Working at the Organic Farm
Yeah, Monday I sprayed organic pesticide which I made with water, fermented fruit (like Molasses), chile extract, and garlic extract.  After spraying the orange and the mango orchard we were covered with the sticky spray.  Luckily the only side effect is that you smell like Chinese food.

I would really love to start an organic farm- I already have the marketing all planned out for an organic farm called Tammy's Treasure or Tammy's Treasured Organic Farm (I'm a fan of alliteration).

Today I learned hard core composting.  If you ever want to test your gag reflex, mix up hot compost. The smell and the grubs are putrid.  It's amazing how quickly that nastiness tranforms into rich soil as a result of rotation and the aeration tube.
