Alrighty...a year ago, as you may remember, I had my routine pap done and it came back with precancerous cells.  Went and took care of it, and went and had repeat paps to make sure it was gone.

Back a few months ago, I went to see my gyno doc again for a lump in my boob, which turned out to be nothing.  At that time, the nurse said that I shouldn't need another pap for awhile since I had so many done recently.  Okay

A month later, I recieved a reminder card saying it was time to schedule my routine pap.  I thought it was a mistake, since I was there recently and was told I didn't need one.  So, I ignored it.

A month after that, I got another one, however, that's when all my problems with me not being able to eat/vomiting/bloody vomiting, so I ignored it because I had more important things going on to take care of (like why the hell i'm vomiting blood)

I went to my parents this past Friday for my brothers senior night and I had another letter from my gyno doctor, stating they were tired of reaching me, and would not try anymore, and if I did not contact them to schedule my recheck appointment by 11/30, my records would be ready for pick up because I would no longer be a client of theirs.

WHAT?!?!

So, I called them immediately and explained why I had not called.  Explained that I had been vomiting blood, may have to have surgery, and I have been in and out of doctors offices/diagnostic centers for the past month, and simply could NOT afford to start going to ANOTHER doctor this month.

Her response????  I'm serious too about this...  "That is not our problem."

I asked if there was any way that I could just do the appointment next month, because I do not know if I have to have surgery yet.

She said no, it had to be made this month or I was no longer a client of theirs.

I explained, again, that I didn't have the money.

She responded again saying "that is not our problem"

I asked if I could schedule the appointment, and then pay the bill the first week of the month.

Of course she said no to that.

I told her that she needed to work with me.  I have other health issues that I needed to deal with and could NOT get in their until December.

She then stated that if I schedule it for the first week of December, she would let them all know, and if there is a problem with it, they will give us a call.

So, it's scheduled for December 7th.

I was FORCED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT THAT I CANNOT AFFORD.  Or, I would be fired.

Have you EVER HEARD of such a thing?  Is this even LEGAL?!?!?!

I'm going to have this pap done, and as soon as I get my results, I'm picking up my records.  I'm done...

It sure doesn't SOUND legal... how could they possibly have forced you to take medical care??? especially when you couldn't afford it?

I would definitely leave that place, but I might read into this possible legal matter too.

I'm sorry this happened to you =[

best of luck!

Hi Twinnie!!
If you plan on leaving them anyway after the Pap, why not just grab your records before the test and walk out?  Do you have a family doctor you see?  That's where I get mine done.  They can't ditch you for not going to get a test done, and they always have ALL of your records on file, for everything that's going on.  That's insane, and rude.  Seriously, I would grab my files and not get the test done, if you're positive you don't need one done and plan on leaving that place anyway.
