I wrote this rather than watching the oddly addictive CW show, Gossip Girl.

dogwoodsAre any of you surprisingly addicted to GG? I've only seen a few episodes but it's actually kind of interesting. My how weird my tv tastes have become over the summer....
So, the French Club's skate night is fast approaching (Oct. 7th) and I'm mondo excited about it. I hope it'll be a really great event and something we'll consider doing yearly. Anyway, sis has chosen some excellent french artists to upload onto her ipod so we'll have some lovely beats to skate around to.
Also, since Greg won't be coming and Donna won't be coming and I don't know that many people in the French Club and sis and Maria tend to band together (even though they don't mean to), I invited Cory to [hopefully] insure a buddy for the night. We'll see what happens ;).
I'm finally getting the hang of it in Commercial Art. I'm no pro on Adobe Illustrator, but I'm starting to get it. The project that we're working on right now has us creating 2 logos for faux companies (an all organic, hand made, ethical kids clothing company called "Kidaroos," and a large corporation that uses sweatshop labor-much like Walmart-called "Kid Gear USA"). From there, we have to choose which company we're going to continue designing for, and create a business card, letter head,...and something else that's slipped my memory.
I have a quiz in Art History on Thursday. It's purely for the sake of extra credit, though, so I'm not super stressed. I do, however, want to do extra good so I can get that extra credit (just in case).
I had my first exam in Geology today. It went okay and the test as whole was really pretty easy. Not at all what I was expecting. However, there were a few questions that addressed areas I hadn't studied at all (and in some cases, didn't even recall discussing in class) that I may have bombed. lol Oh well. I guess we'll see how I did later this week. I'm predicting a low B, perhaps, but we'll see. I may not be so lucky.
Intro Print's going well enough. Ralph (prof.) likes me so that's good. The next print we're starting is dealing with aquatint on copperplate (has nothing to do with the color aqua, by the way), and I'm not so sure how I'll do with it. It sounds kind of difficult, but maybe it's not. I think I'm either going to do a nude in a bathtub or else a worms-eye shot of dogwood leaves against a white sky. I don't know which, yet, but it's more likely that I'll do the latter. While I love using the human form in art, sometimes I just don't have the confidence to use my own. lol Plus, do I really want to have an image in which I'm exposing my boobs? Hm...not so much. Though I did come close to that for Litho. So....I may. We'll see.
Other updates?
The starter on our car is broken, so that any time we have to turn on the car we must pop the hood and beat on it until it starts running. It costs $200-something to fix it. Money we just don't have right now-particularly since out financial aid checks STILL HAVE NOT YET COME THROUGH. Yes, classes started at the end of August. Yes, it's been a long ass time for us to still not have them. Yes, it's extremely lame.
My cat, Finn, and sis's cat, Sketch, love candy. Or rather, love dumdum suckers and smarties. We have a bowl of them on our counter (left over from one of my mom's school things) and every day we find chewed up smarties (torn from their single-wrapped packages) and sticky, unwrapped dumdums all over the kitchen, dinning room, and occasionally in more random places (like next to my bed and by their cat box).
Greg wants me to wear the red dress and model for him again. I don't know why (I suck at modeling--can you say awkward?), but I'm supposed to wear it/bring it on Wednesday. So...*shrug*
I ran into Donna today and she's having a rough go. She just can't seem to catch a break. First issues with Perry, then her apartment on the market to be sold and now her grandmother has [possibly] cancer and her kidneys are failing. I just feel so bad for her. She wants to try and get together on Friday if she's in town.
I'm mildly addicted to Johnny Cash as of late. Particularly the songs Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk The Line, Big River, A Boy Named Sue, One Piece At a Time, and Hurt from "The Legend of Johnny Cash" album.
Also, I really like to sing along to music. Not that that's a particularly unique thing (most people do, I assume), I just thought I'd throw that in.
