We (av, socKs and myself) have posted several pictures over the past few years of one of our favorite art installments in the DC area -- as well as the planet.  It's an interesting statue called "The Awakening" which, until today, resided at Hains Point, the park which divides the Potomac River from the Washington Channel.

It was at the base of Hains Point since 1980. It was one of those statues you could easily see from an airplane landing at National Airport right across the river.  We took pictures there. Climbed on it. Had picnics there.

We'll miss you, big submerged giant bearded man.  Good luck in your new home across the Anacostia...

It looks like me when I slipped and fell in the snowbank on the way to work two weeks ago.

Re: So long, Awakening...
By the way I use my Mp3 player and listen to book interviews etc as i walk to work every day. the best are from Radio Australia. Anyway I was walking today and I had downloaded your show last week but it was the springs episode. it was really funny to hear you as host and people like Nomad on the air. It was the first time i had ever had Mindsay friends walk me to work.  I am soon going to do one of my walking videos about it.

35 years ago I studied radio announcing and interviewing. You would be a good host because you are not an argument starter nor do you suck up to guests. Most importantly you rarely him and haw and you never go over the top. Nice work.

I say this as a radio fanatic who will not even listen to commercial radio.
