Would anyone like to swap houses with me? I suppose there's a website for that kind of thing, but I thought I'd try here first. I got the idea from the movie "The Holiday" where Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet switched homes for a couple of weeks.  The difference is I don't live in L.A. or England, and Jude Law doesn't live here in Omaha.

Even without Jude Law, Omaha's not so bad. I read somewhere that a woman in Cleveland was able to trade off her house, and Omaha is not much worse than Cleveland. We're just 500 miles from Chicago,  500 miles from Denver, and there's not much traffic in between. We're just 20 hours from the beach so bring your bathing suit. But we're not beach people, so don't expect a lot of laughing and splashing around.

The New York Times even did an article about us last week called "Omaha's Culture Club". Yeah, this is a hot spot. For the younger set, Omaha is probably best known as the home of a whole bunch of indie rock musicians — members of the Faint, Cursive, the Good Life, Tilly and the Wall, Azure Ray and, most famously, Bright Eyes. Older folks might try to get lucky with Warren Buffet the rich investor. I'm thinking the women, but a man might try. Hey, what have you got to lose?

Just remember to turn back your clock. When it's 5 o'clock in New York, it's 1974 in Omaha.  Oh, and you know you'll be safe here--this is where Bush came on 9/11.

Re: HEY, ANYONE WANNA SWAP HOUSES?
LMAO I just watched that movie and told my husband we should swap houses w/ someone!  He laughed and said who would want to come to the rez in Northeast NE!

Hey how about you!  We could do it!  Only a 1 and half to 2 hour jaunt north depending on where in Omaha your at!  You would have peice and quite of the country life and have Sioux City with in a half hour drive time!

Kidding!

Good Luck on Swapping your House!

Re: HEY, ANYONE WANNA SWAP HOUSES?
Possibly because everyone in the US thinks there is nothing to do in this area!  They are too scared to come out here and realize that we have it pretty good out here......Cities and Country!  Sure Omaha isn't as big as some cities and Sioux City isn't all that big either, but both have lots of things to do if people play tourist!

Not to mention we are only hop skips and jumps away from Shy Town, KC, Twin Cities, and Denver!  And if you like the South, we have Tulsa and OKC not to mention Witchta!  And shall we mention all the small towns and villages that have anual festivals, parades, and activites during the spring, summer and fall that can rival any festival in any other state.  Plus you come out to this area you not only get one city with one state; you get Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Missiour all with in a jaunt of each other!

Instead of just saying you want to swap houses and you live in Omaha, talk the entire area up and show pictures!

Yeah, but I like that it's the best-kept secret.  Not so crowded.
