Other than that, great blog!
I'll agree with you on all three, there are no LOGICAL reasons any of the three should not be legalized... other than narrow-minded, holier-than-thou, bigotted thinking.
Anyone with more than 5 brain cells can tell you the "War on Drugs" has been a complete and utter failure of time and money. Legalizing, regulating and taxing drugs would eliminate crime, drug cartels and dealers, along with a probable improvement in the quality of drugs available... they would have to meet "government standards".
Legalizing prostitution - it's a win-win situation - starting with a decrease in AIDS. Infected men & women would be eliminated from the "work force" and receive the treatment they needed.
As for gay marriage... let's call it what it is... government sponsored discrimination! Again, there is no logical reason to ban it.
And I mean all my comments with the utmost respect! I love a good debate!
According to current evidence, roughly half of the street prostitutes in Washington, D.C., and New York City are HIV-positive. In Newark, New Jersey, the estimate is that close to 60% of all prostitutes carry the AIDS virus. Yet, in the relatively "free market" of Nevada, where prostitution is legal, not one (as of 1989) of the state-licensed prostitutes has ever tested positive for AIDS. Condom use is mandatory for all oral sex and sexual intercourse and the women are tested weekly for STD's and monthly for HIV.
I haven't been able to find any info relating to regulation or medical costs, it's probably up to the regulating authority to determine.
And $20 for a BJ? WOW! Most of the "escorts" here are getting $200 - 300+ an hour for outcalls.
marry who you want!
smoke some weed!
and... pay for some whores?
in all seriousness though, good post.
The semi-ban on gay marraige is just idiotic, as is the ban on marijuana.
i'm a bit torn on the ban on prostitution in some places, so i could go either way on that.
