Swine Flu Fighting Vitamin?

Flu Fighting Liquid Vitamin D-3?
The swine flu news is everywhere and to bring you a healthy perspective this article will clarify what researchers are getting very excited about in fighting the flu with a unique vitamin.
So here’s the story.
Influenza broke out at Atascadero State Hospital, CA, with the exception of the ward run by Dr. John Cannell.
Influenza broke out. The flu jumped from ward to ward all around them, none of the patients in his ward became infected.
Strange indeed.
After much investigation, it was determined that the only difference between the wards was that the patients in Dr. Cannell’s ward had been getting 2,000 iu of Vitamin D every day for months.
Recent scientific studies have proven that vitamin D increases the body’s production of broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptides, peptides that quickly destroy the influenza virus while simultaneously preventing the immune system from releasing too many inflammatory cells called chemokines and cytokines into infected lung tissue.
An excess of inflammatory cells would otherwise damage the lungs.
The detrimental effects of excess inflammatory cells was proven in 1918 when medical scientists did autopsies on some of the fifty million people who died during the 1918 flu pandemic.
They were amazed to find destroyed respiratory tracts; sometimes these inflammatory cytokines triggered the complete destruction of the normal epithelial cells lining the respiratory tract.
It was as if the flu victims had been attacked and killed by their own immune systems.
Severe Inflammatory Reaction That Vitamin D Has Recently Been Found to Prevent
The Public Health Agency of Canada has been so impressed with these findings, it is recruiting participants for a large-scale clinical trial to see if vitamin D will effectively protect against the swine flu.
The agency is basing its study on a large body of evidence that shows vitamin D reduces the risk of upper respiratory infections, especially in the summer when people have adequate levels from the sun.
It should also be noted that in countries where there is year round exposure to the sun, there are little or no upper respiratory infections.
Taking note of all the evidence, Canada is pursuing a common-sense healthy solution that could protect people from the swine flu altogether or dramatically reduce its severity — without any long-term side effects.
BIRDIE NOTE: Vitamin D is very inexpensive to purchase...In Canada and the US you can buy two large bottles of Vitamin D..1000 IU's for about 6 dollars...It's called preventative medicine.
Avoid Swine Flu by not using the following phrase:
"I'll believe that when pigs fly..."

lol
good advice...We must never utter those words...
Thank you, Birdie for the very useful advice! I take calcium with D and an everyday multivitamin, but it sounds like one could use even more, hey?

How did turkey day go?
Hope well!
bonnie
Yes Bonnie, it is important to take more of it...I take at least 3000IU daily...I have for many months now . My doctor suggested it...He takes 7000IU a day...Apparently, it prevents bone loss, cancer, heart disease, all sorts of ailments....Now research is pointing to respiratory ailments, viruses.
I think 2000IU is enough with your high dosage multi...
Go to Costco. Get a couple of bottles...very inexpensive... Give it to Lawl too...at least over the winter months..start now...maybe take 3000 for the first month...Thanksgiving was great..both dinners were so good..thankyou for asking..How are you doing BF?
I am actually good, thank you, although I lead quite a boring life. To me it is just peaceful...and I like it that way. We are battling right now, financially, but who isn't? He has to catch up with the bills from my surgery and ER visits, then we'll be okay again. Didn't have a chance to catch up after the wedding. But God is good and we aren't going hungry...
Thanks for the advice about the vitamin.
But you know, going out to church twice a week, and to Curves to work out, is quite enough for the week. Otherwise I just like to stick around home and play online when I am not with hubby or doing my chores.
Laid back but nice...
Love you gal!
When do you plan on going down south?
I understand that when you have a partner, you become satisfied with a simple lifestyle..I remember what it was like and I was content as well..
Last night I went to a concert with two women...It was a Christian concert highlighting new artists, not only Christian but singer songwriters, musicians etc..One of the singer/songwriters has a new CD coming out...One song she sang was called The names of God...and there lyrics were simply names that every religion calls God..and it was soooooooooooo beautiful....Just repeating the names of God over and over...I thought this is a great song to meditate on...as an affirmation of all that God does for us ...all that he is..
Anyway...one of the women I went with is married to a very successful intelligent man and she said..."There are very few women of God left in the world..true women of God"...A woman who is content to wait upon the Lord, pray, read her bible and obey..It isn't about running around and giving speeches or making yourself visible but a woman of God...........quietly gives her heart to Jesus...everyday.
I thought "Yes..doing in this world is good but being a true woman of God is wonderful"
sigh...
I am leaving the end of November until almost the end of April.
I need to find a clever way of generating income B...After all...I could live to be 200..lol..It has been in my mind lately..I am doing okay but paying for two places is vexing to my bank account.lol
Well, I say get to painting...find something inside you that is your talent and that you are creative with, and you said you paint, right? So just do simple paintings and don't charge astronomically for them...just get your money out of them and a bit of a profit after the costs of materials....
I bet it would be so cathartic for you and generate income at the same time....
Hey, my hubby is struggling...maybe I should surprise him and send some work to a publisher on the qt and just see what happens, hey? I just gave both of us an idea!
Oh yes, to be a woman of God...I have always wished to be called a friend of God and a woman after God's own heart like David was. He was so honest and open with the Lord. Yes, he made mistakes, but was immediately truly remorseful...like impetuous Peter...did deny Christ but was so so so sorry after, and then the Holy Spirit made him a great man of God. I love the Bible...full of people, just like me, who were not perfect, but were just willing to be used as a vessel, and so God did....sigh...to be like Jesus...
Thank you for your note, my friend. You always encourage me, even when I am encouraging you...giggle!
Love you so much...try the painting?
bonz
My emotions..my communication is probably the best..most creative part of me..Yes...I could write, I could paint but I have to spend time with it...I enjoy expressing my emotions through those mediums...even acting which I may do some of this winter...but nothing as I see it ..........that could generate an income..
anyway...I am not going to think about it...just live it.
I will let God move me in the right direction...Everything I do has "creation" written on it...so...in my creation process, something will emerge ....I don't need to "worry" at all..
I have been blessed...and the blessings continue..
I will take my oils, acrylics and brushes South and do some of it...for me...Also want to do more golf and I met a male who is getting season's tickets to theatre productions in and around Phoenix and wants to take me...also may audition...why not? It is all fun for me.
Recently Bonnie, I have realized how I need to stay close to Jesus..yet be human...as he was...Love is everything!
We may be sinners but our love and desire to please God brings us back to a place where we are reconciled..
Yesterday at church, he pointed to how the world needs Jesus..as an example of the most perfect human and as an example of who God is...If we keep looking to him, our hearts will change and we will become.......as perfect an example of man kind as possible.
My new pastor is unbelievable...Taught Theology for 10 years and felt called to minister at this large downtown Baptist church as pastor..He is both loving...has a heart for people and is a very intelligent scholar..He teaches like no other I have heard..
Bonnie....see how giving to others helps ourselves..always..
I hope you do send some work to a publisher.
do it!
love
I love the way you are drawing nearer to him, my friend....it is he who lives and moves and has his being in us..without him we are nothing, yet with him..we draw others to him...fishers of men..

I realize that close to Jesus is close to God and being apart from him is like being in the wilderness and looking for manna.....we don't have the joy or the protection..When we abide in him......we have the security of knowing that his love..........is ours forever...Whomever God loves, he blesses.
Sweetheart, I do want to be a fisher of men by the example of my love...I still feel that too much talk spoils the soup...(lol) (soup????, oh well..hahaha)
but wherever God permits loving conversation...yes..I will tell of God's blessings and love and hope for humanity.
OH, I understand that so much, especially lately. I just sing gospel songs..among the others, but they can tell it is my first love...and say a little something under my own song...not preaching to anyone...and people come to me, asking me to pray for needs in their lives or the lives of others. I think Jesus did not have to do anything to broadcast who he was, because his works/fruit proved him.
When I offer to say a pray for a sick or burdened person, showing them that nothing is in my power but all glory goes to my best friend...that is when they see Jesus in me...compassion always does the trick...Jesus was 'MOVED WITH COMPASSION' and healed...and compassion increases faith. Love cannot be faked...
Love you!
bonnie
Now I am feeling tears well up in my eyes..
You are right Bon.
"Love cannot be faked"
AW, and I hope you can tell how much I luz you, you sweet birdie, you!
you are so sweet too Miss Bonnie..
May God bless you richly all the days of your life..
sending love to you from the Bird.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
I can definitely feel your love, girl...I know you are not faking...

I definately feel mucho affection for your warm heart and soul.
hope your day is special.
I went and cleaned the church, and since I have not really done that kind of thing in a while...bending low over a short mop handle, to clean a huge amount of flooring, moving chairs away in the hall I mopped as well as the church I vacuumed and putting them back, and all that...blah blah...made me extremely tired and my body ache. So, I ended up taking two Tylenol Pms and sleeping ten solid hours.
So, the day was pretty much shot, but I did have a pretty good evening after that...cooked barbecued chicken and trimmings, cleaned it up and spent some time with hubby in front of the tv before coming in here to the computer. I know it's really doing nothing but I always just wanted to do nothing my whole life, so this is great!
I hope your day was great as well!
bonnie
Loving and caring for your family and people around you is not nothing..Encouraging and loving those you come into contact with is not nothing.
The world has it's players but if you are a woman of God, you will be counted as great in the kingdom of God..
God smiles on women who do nothing but love and encourage because in his eyes ...it is everything..Maybe not to the world but...we know who rules here.
"You have achieved success if you
have lived well, laughed often
and loved much."

thank you for your encouragement AGAIN, my dear friend!
I think I will keep you around for at least ...hmmm...a million years...then I'll decide if or not I want to discard you...but hey, love grows with time and friendship dearer...so don't look too forward to getting rid of me, okay?
This is amazing. Many people (mostly in the field alternative medicine) say there's no medicine to actually cure the flu. We have to let and support our bodies (or our immune system) fight it. Maybe that's why I don't like the idea of being vaccinated.
I do not believe in vaccinations..Now there are new cases of ALS coming out after that vaccination for cervical cancer..I believe my son developed attentional problems and behavioural problems due to a combo of vaccinations he received when he was 7 months old...Here you have mega toxins going into the brains of babies...There are a lot of things that suppress viruses....like Royal Jelly...Something in Royal Jelly helps fight viruses and bacterial infections...Maybe that is why the Queen Bee lives so much longer...She is the only one who receives the Jelly treatment..(smiles)
Hope you are well Tweaty..
cure is different from preventing..
If the body has added protection or shield from the virus..that is great..I think that is what they "think" vitamin D may do..
I also agree that sometimes it is better to get the ailment than the vaccination...For example...chicken pox...just get it...it gives you immunity..I got all of the childhood diseases like measles (2 kinds), chicken pox, infected tonsils..(still have them, they didn't come out and they work perfectly). I have a healthy body today..Sometimes medical intervention makes you very very sick.
I must say that I believe in vaccinations where they save lives of course..but as a preventative for diseases that don't maim or kill...no...Vaccinations will always have casualties...
ow's thing, birdie? Hope you have a fun Halloween. Any cool costume this year?
Not really into Hallowween...If I did, maybe I would go as "little Bird" or Rapunzel.
How's thing, birdie? Hope you have a fun Halloween. Any cool costume this year?
Whole heartedly agree with you......
As usual, your advice is right on the money my friend.
But have to admit that I do not take vit's like I should ........
But when I start getting feeling bad I load up on a good multi.
I also feel that what they are afraid of ....is not the H1N1 as it is right now ( Not much worse on a healthy person, then the regular flu.) But what it might mutate into....
"Eagle"
I agree..I don't think this flu is a lot more than most. Every flu kills if it reaches it's target..compromised immunity. They want to sell a lot of flu vacinations but I wonder what the consequence of having this vaccination in your system will be. I do believe that we should be vigilant but not obsessed. Washing hands, etc. I am trying to take my vitamins daily...It is difficult...takes practice..I hate swallowing all of those supplements every morning but I try.. We can become complacent with our health until we notice that it is not what it used to be. Have a great morning Eagle.
Wow! Thank you very much, I take a vitamin pack usually but I think I might throw in a vitamin D supplement. All though I think I will do some research about the effects of it. I know vitamin C is water soluble and will just run through you with no problem. But Calcium needs to be moderated or can give you a calcium deficiency. So I'll find out which is Vitamin D. Thanks!
You're welcome..Yes..Definately google it...They now call it the "forgotten vitamin"..It's touted as the miracle vitamin..I don't know...but I do take some every day.
Yeah everything is a "miracle" depending on what you are looking for.
I'll check it out and let you know my findings!
