I guess I have been teased long enough...I am not going to take the giggles any more..

I am speaking of the teasing I have to take from my male friend every time he climbs in the passenger seat of my ..........................................2001 Toyota Echo..He even teases me over the telephone by telling me that Echo and I have bonded

and I must admit....the teasing bugged and bugs me..

He has discriminating taste in automobiles and loves to purchase quality...so do I..but I don't purchase Astin Martins, Ferraris and Jaguars...he does..

Yes..I love quality...I do...Class and refinement are my cup of tea...(laughing here)

but I am very practical and want a car that is environmentally friendly..not hard on consumption....I want it all but don't want to pay for a Lexus or a Mercedes and Beamers are so common...although nice.

I want a nice looking vehicle that gets great gas mileage, good warranty, good resale, problem free and a lower than luxury price..with leather, sunroof and nav system..and a great stereo system....

so...I have been in research mode and narrowed it down to Japanese manufacturers...I always stick with Japanese....Toyota is ugly....plain and simple...I want some kinda sexy...Madza...?????????not sure..ratings are okay...Nissan...not as respected or the quality of my star pick..I looked at SUVs for a while but realized that although they are fun to drive on occasion, I am not an SUV girl, I am Sedan.

I proudly announce that my new Echo baby replacement might be............Honda Accord EX-L Navigational..4 cylinder...(don't need or want to pay for 6)

so....I am awaiting the best deals...

Come on Boys...

Call me up and tell me I can have my baby for a mere....$25,000... Ha.........that's a joke...In Canada, we pay for our automobiles...I'll be lucky to get it for $36,000 plus.

You know what bothers me the most...

If my Echo looked nicer....I would drive it to the death..

That loyal little hump of aluminum gets 40 miles per gallon in the city and 51 on the highway...No need for Hybrids....but eventually I would need a new cars........so here I go.

Waiting for the quotes to roll in.

Re: Buying a Car.
Might I ask why you don't get a hybrid? Wouldn't they give you what you're looking for?
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
Well there are pros and cons...and I don't think I want my engine stopping when I idle or sit...and I don't think they will be popular all that long..I think there will be newer technology and hybrid cars will change..

Also...I wanted something more than a little bug this time...a midsize with more options and the hybrids available in mid size aren't that wonderful to look at or at the pump....so....I think I want an engine that is time tested and proven to be efficient..

gianna on
Re: Buying a Car.
I guess I haven't really looked much into them. I'd always wanted a hybrid because I thought it'd be better for the environment. But, haha, I think you might be changing my mind. I'll have to do research for when I want a new car, haha.

That Honda Accord looks really nice!
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
It does look nice...They changed the design last year...Before that ..............boring!

but....guess who bought one?

I did....today...See my blogg..

I have been through so much with Echo...and honestly, I feel like I am losing my friend...

Re: Buying a Car.
That's exciting! A new car! I did read your newest blog. I bet that car looks like sex on wheels! Haha.
You'll always have your memories with it, though.

Re: Buying a Car.
I think it is a fairly nice looking car..for the quality and price...Kind of like a Lexus 350 and in black, she's quite lovely.
gianna on
Re: Buying a Car.
I love that car! One of my friends has it and it's a beauty. If cars can be sexy, it is that.
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
You love which car..Accord or Lexus?

Consumer Reports do not call Sedans sexy usually ...Convertibles are sexy......Roadsters and Sports Cars are called Sexy but I think the exterior of the Accord is a little sexy...The interior has nothing to brag about but that's okay..

gianna on
Re: Buying a Car.
The Lexus. But that Accord is good looking, too.
Haha, well I definitely think that the Lexus makes sedans sexy.
And hey, a little sexy is better than no sexy! Haha
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
Yes...the Lexus is a great vehicle...I looked at them...but they are much costlier.
gianna on
Re: Buying a Car.
They are. But even though they're nice and lovely and all, I say why not go for a cheaper car that's basically just as good? Not just as good, but you know what I mean...right? Haha.
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
Yes..I know what you mean..

Lexus is wonderful but it is $60,000 compared with $33,000..

I am trying to get the highest quality...bang for my buck!

yes.

gianna on
Re: Buying a Car.
Geez, here the 350 starts in the $30's.
That's good. The bang for your buck thing is a good thing to do. There are a lot of people who don't do that because they want that fancy label on things.

Re: Buying a Car.
Automobiles in Canada used to be almost 2/3 higher...but I think they have come down in price...although our taxes are much higher...We probably pay at least $10,000 more..but I can't be absolutely sure.

and of course, it depends on options...so the price goes up.

gianna on
Re: Buying a Car.
Goodness. That's a lot. I would assume that what Canadians get paid is higher than what it is for the States, so you guys can afford the high prices.
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
Auto prices in Canada have come down a lot..They had to do something to keep car buyers from buying US and importing the vehicle...

Salaries higher in Canada...no...not at all...If you are lower - middle management, salaries are higher in the US..always..

Same with medical positions, doctors, nurses, technical people....Canada is a middle class country....I hear we have a lot of poverty but it isn't as visible as it is in the US..Everyone has help here if they need it..There are wealthy people but more middle class....We are a country of moderates...and that's okay...I love my Country for what it represents....a high standard of living with medical benefits and education for everyone...We are a youthful, clean, fresh country but I also love spending time elsewhere...so...being here for 6 months and somewhere in Europe or the US  would suit me fine..

Re: Buying a Car.
Well...that....I actually don't know what to say. I can't hold a conversation about government, haha.
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
You can't?  I see?  well maybe can't isn't the right word...You can do whatever you want to do...if you're interested....I don't seem to be very interested in government or politics at the moment...Some of it peaks my interest and some doesn't.

robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.

Not many can hold a conversation about government unless  it's an issue close to your heart...but I find it boring so I have never followed it closely...It has never been my priority although while I was in the US, I was drawn in...In general, I see the wheel goes round and round and exasperates everyone . We love them...we hate them..People bitch and argue and namecall and  the wheel goes round......It's just not attractive to me...repulsive in some ways.

so...I guess I won't be dating any politicians....but then again...maybe it would  change my thinking about the process..

gianna on
Re: Buying a Car.
I say that I can't because, government and politics aren't an interest to me. I'm with you, I find it pretty boring most of the time. Some things are close to my heart, so I might be more likely to know about that stuff.
I say that there's too much formality in that sector. Too much judgment...too harsh of standards on people. Too many hypocrites, it seems like.
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
I feel so guilty that I am not an enthusiastic political junkie...I mean....I could follow one newsworthy topic  and have something political to milk in my conversations...but I would still find it boring until I became an expert..lol

Isn't everyone an expert?

We can't label them all hypocites but yes.

G...we (I) have to find my thing...my cause...the thing that moves me...and that I become a part of.

Phenomenal concert tonight in the park...A blues musician named Jim Byrnes...also an actor..and then I went to another stage and watched a local performer.....Jane Mortifee..She was born in South Africa and does this African song....bought the CD...Some guy gave me 2 bucks..I was short..lol

Re: Buying a Car.
I just can't see how people can actually be enthusiastic about that stuff, though. It's sooo blahhh. Except for maybe the stuff involving animals and eco-friendly things. That's interesting to me. But still, I don't really keep up with it, haha.
If you really want to be able to talk about political things with people, then I say you'll find that topic.

Glad to hear you had a nice night! That was really nice of some stranger to spot you. Good to see that that's not dead in our society.
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
I feel that I should know more about politics...I feel that I should be able to carry on conversation and add to the mix..Sometimes..it makes me feel insecure...yet I know it has nothing to do with intelligence and everything to do with information.

robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
It may start in the 30's but ends up in the 50's..

I mean...let's say $36,000, then you add on the options..and you add on $10,000 and then with tax and incidentals...it is amazing how it climbs t0 $50,000

I appreciate a fancy label car...but I don't need one...or even want one....I just want my boyfriend to have one...lol

then I can be a passenger in a fancy smancy car on occasion.

lol

Re: Buying a Car.
I am kidding you know...

Cars are like anything else you can buy...

Just mechanical.

Re: Buying a Car.
But some of them sure do look beautiful! Haha. I love love the nice expensive cars because they look so nice. And they go fast. But I would never ever buy one because that's just a waste of money, in my eyes.

Re: Buying a Car.
There is a Honda manufacturers rebate that ends today..31st..and they are only coming down...$1800. on 09's..

The Sales manager says they don't come down on these cars....He says he paid more for his...so without Navigational system....he is telling me $31,000. before tax...

It is far less in the US and the Nav system is $2000.00..but I don't want to spend $40,000 on a car...

I am going to look now...but I wonder...should I buy  now and save $1800 and get o.9 financing for 5 years or buy a 2010 model and pay a little more but have the newer model...??????Oh questions...I just want someone to make this decision for me..

talk later..

wish you could say...

Do this...or Do that.

Wolfie...I need your expert male auto advice.

Re: Buying a Car.
BE FIRM !! Birdie, Tell him you are going to buy a car today and this is what I want and this is what I want my payments to be. tell him if he can't do it that there is a another car dealer that can.. Be firm and they may work with you! Good luck dear!        Timberwolf +++
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
Oh Yeah...I was so firm....I said...Yes..where do I sign?  lolololol

Actually, I don't think these popular Japanese automakers have much leeway (sp) in terms of pricing..The salesman told me he paid more for his 08  than I did for my 09 and I believe him...I got great financing with a little bit for Echo...sigh..poor baby car...I love you BabyEcho! lol

This guy was the sales manager...funny young guy...gave me the lowest of three prices...I bought a black Honda Accord EX-L which has everything except Nav...Black on Black...Black leather interior...not the best but.........okay..

and my payments are at 0.9% financing which is under $500 per month.

I am getting happier by the minute...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh...yeah!!@!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Buying a Car.
Toyota may be the best car on the market............and has been for a long time. I recently re-discovered Chevy. Seems the last few years the quality of their product has drastically improved. Check out the new Impalas.

Re: Buying a Car.
Hey Captain...I have consistently bought new Toyotas...They just last...have great resale and never fall apart...so I guess you could say....dependability...

I looked at everything out there....small....foreign...domestic...The Malibu has some really nice options that come with the vehicle...but 5 years down the road, what kind of value will it bring me....I ended up with a Black beauty....Black on Black (leather)

Honda Accord EX-L automatic.....good quality....much improved styling...She is actually much sexier as of 2008....so.....I signed on the dotted line and pick her up tomorrow...I guess you could say....She is my birthday present to myself...My birthday is on August 24th...Virgo cusp.

believe it or not go research  KIA Rio 5
That is  the car im buying in a few months new. the new ones run about 13,000
and great gas mileage and awesome safety  ratings
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
Tawni.....Thankyou hon for caring about my car....(smiles)

I did check out Kia and Hyundai...

The Kia is less in the US..We pay these damn exorbitant taxes to support our systems...but that's okay...Kia has unbelievably warranties...the best in the industry...and they are bringing in mucho buyers with their warranties...Hyundai, in Canada has 0% financing for 72 months so why give them money when placing it anywhere else makes more sense...I looked at the options and the quality and the resale value....and I chose Honda....and I need to fall in love........tomorrow...I am getting excited now as I write this..

I felt sad about leaving my little baby old Echo.

But as soon as I drive out of the lot, I think I will be okay...lol

Re: Buying a Car.
I bought a Civic , brand new, in 2004. Best car I've ever owned, hands down. My girlfriend has a CR-V with 261,000+ miles on it. We just took it from WI to TN and back a couple of weeks ago. Fully packed with camping gear, four people, and a four banger with all wheel drive. It still averaged 25 miles per gallon. I'd buy another Honda tomorrow without even shopping around!
robot2 on
Re: Buying a Car.
That's good to know...Thankyou..This car has to last me. I have always had Toyotas and I trust their quality but I have heard wonderful things about Honda and the Civic is the best selling car on the market...I bought Accord so the mpg is a little less but not bad.
