As, the title says, I think I may be the anti-Christ.

Now, I know I pledged not to blog on, read, comment, or otherwise on religion. But as this would qualify as anti-religion/end of religion perhaps it is allowed.

So being raised in a Christian household, being a Jesus-freak in my formative years, I heard alot about the end times, how close we were, etc. In those stories, the Anti-Christ plays a central role. (For those who haven't studied the Revelations of John, the Anti-Christ becomes the conduit by which the end times occur, eventually being the servant of Satan, although not at the beginning and not from birth as portrayed in the Omen, etc.)

So there are apparently some "warning signs", characteristics, etc of the Anti-Christ. my father had a "Biography of the Anti-Christ" that I read as a boy. Essentially, using prophecy it tells the story of the Anti-Christ minus his name.

I won't hit every point, and not every point applies, but there are striking similarities. For instance, the Anti-Christ will be born on the Eastern Bank of a river. This is assumed to be the Jordan River, making the Anti-Christ a Jew or Arab, but the hospital in which I was born rests on the Eastern Bank of a River, as well as, on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

It is also said that the Anti- Christ will be raised in the ways of God. Taking this to mean in a god-fearing household- well I've said before my parents are very religious. I was raised in the church, my father is a pastor. I was a Jesus Freak in my formative years even- being REALLY into God.

It is prophesized that entering adult hood, the anti-Christ would rebuke Christ, calling him a false god and writing religion in his own way. Well- if you read my blog at all, you will see that my belief lies right along that path. I use the Bible as a basis for my faith- so I could be perverting the word of God, if you see it that way

It is said that the Anti-Christ will come from very little and being known by no one to rise to a place of great power. I came from a small town in a rural area- my life goal is to be President.

It is written that the Anti-Christ will have a commanding knowledge of Bibilical, Classical and topical subjects. Well, my fascination with history and obsession with politics plus the Church background would qualify.

It is said that the Anti-Christ will have a pull towards people, a charm if you will, that will make people listen, believe, and follow his words. I will quote a "friend" from high school. She was really just a popular girl who I had no chance with, but I would often find sitting attentively listen to me "preach" on this subject or another. She said *to paraphrase* There were open discussions about you. Why people would sit and listen to you and let you go on and on. Why girls could ever be interested in you *says something about how SHE felt about my looks*? And why you became who you became in school. But, I think I've figured it out. There are three things about you that just entrapm people. Your eyes. Your smile. And the sound of your voice. It draws people in.- I'll let that speak for itself.

It is said that the Anti-Christ will come preaching peace- Well, you all know that I'm anti-Iraq, Pro- two state solution, etc ... very pro-peace.

It is said that the Anti-Christ will bring war to Israel- See two state solution above- and my Pro-Palestinean stance.

It is said that the Anti-Christ will cause everyone to be marked with his sign- Well, I recently began advocating that every immigrant or Visa holder be implanted with an IRDF chip so that we can keep better track of them. Historically, I have also been an advocate for similar implants for commerce- aiding against ID theft and common crimes. These have been called the first-gen of a sign of the beast.

Anyway, thats a few. A compelling argument in my head- and now seeing it down and out there- seems to remain pretty compelling.

Any thoughts? Comments? Well-wishes? Donations? Vows of servitude to the NWO? ;)

You're not a Jew tho- so you can't be the anti-christ by definition.

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
AHH a very astute observation. However, there are controversies as far as if the AntiChrist would be a Jew, and Arab (the enemy of the Jews) or something else...

Either way, i would qualify as I have roots in several of the Semetic people, including Hebrew.

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
Yeah, but whatsisface specifically said the Antichrist was Jewish.  Not that he had semitic or Hebrew background, but specifically of the Chosen People.
And we all know Gawd don't do things sorta-sorta.  It's literal and precise!

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
Whos said that now?

Christ himself never talked about the anti-christ. The accepted prophets were very vague and used different references. And in their time, things were somewhat more homogenous. Any Jewish background was enough to be a Jew, or Arab - an arab. Less intermixing I suppose, and less options to mix.

I don't think I'd fit in th ranks of the faithful, but since I oppose the New World Order mentality, I guess I'll be a mercenary fighting against you for the good guys.  Maybe I can get a suspended sentence to Hell if I kill enough of your minions!

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
Well, according to which translation you ascribe to, fighting the AntiChrist and the Beast may be enough to earn your way into Heaven. A sort of faith in action, after the Christians are all gone.

But join the AntiChrist and the pleasures of the world await you.

Hard decision....

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
The only real pleasures in the world are naturally occurring, storms, animals, forests, etc. so I know what side I'd be on.  I kind of liked what I caught of the Left Behind series, and I think it'd be more fun to be one of the non-saved good guys left who knows enough about Revelations(I too was raised in church and like you sort of perverted Christian texts to fit my own personal spirituality) to pick the right side.

You only get to die once if you play your cards right.

I'll think about it and comment again on Monday.

Enjoy your weekend

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
Well the only book that pre-supposes to give the ending is the Bible, and that is a book where Good always wins.

I like to think, if it is me, maybe we'd stand a decent chance. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, right?

saikotikgunman on
Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
Sometimes, but sometimes absolute power is just... absolute.
robertncheek on
Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
Any good historical backing for that? Or even theoretical?

I would agree with you. I would say it is a man who is corruptable, not the power that corrupts him.

I mean, looking at Bush we see a man who is obviously corruptable. But, the First Bush and Clinton were essentially kings of the world. Cold War militaries with no Cold War adversary amd a limited technological, military and nuclear club? they could have run rampant in the world, but they chose not to.

saikotikgunman on
Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
I don't know, Clinton did his fair share of damage in office, as did many others.

Of course, most of the damage Clinton did was domestic, so it didn't make as much of an international splash.  Signing, AEDPA provided for the first restrictions on habeas corpus since Lincoln's decree in April of '61.

I think as business influence grows, it is inevitable that politicians become more corruptible, as they rely on corporate interests just as heavily as anyone else in America.

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
Yea. I was part of Hofstra University's Presidential Celebration in 2006 for Clinton. Its like an academic review of his entire Presidency. I was chosen to do the presentation on his foreign policy. Came out of it not really liking him. His domestic policy wasnt much better.

I think your right. And thats why we need to get business out of politics. But as I've said before, we rely on the ones who are benefiting the most to remove that same benefit. Campaign finance reform. Not likely.

Yep.  Too bad I'm not 35.
robertncheek on
Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
HAHA me either... but theres a bunch of steps to get to "that" point... MD starts at 21, then 25. HR is 25. Senate is 30. Then the "big show" is 35. So, maybe baby steps are the way to go.

Re: So, I think I may be the Anti-Christ
I'm still not convinced that the anti-christ is one man.  Some employers are already using the embedded chip to scan doorways instead of cards.  There is one man that is supposed to have all the answers before all hell breaks loose, but he could just be a product of an already established system.

I went through the born-again movement in the 70's and went through a lot of changes since then, but those roots have never completely left me.  I'm currently looking at the Mayan calendar for anything significant as a timeline.

Maybe he isnt suppoed to have all the answers. Maybe he just supposed to give comfort. Make it seems like things will be ok, if we just follow him.
