MOOD: SICK :(

I've seen an episode of Tru Calling where Elisa Dushku's character (Tru Davis) decided to drop her boyfriend in exchange for being there everytime a departed someone needs her help.

Thus Tru is a really strong woman. Dedicated in helping those who need.

Now, likewise I've seen an episode of GMA's DARNA, where Angel Locsin's super heroine character (Darna) decided to drop her heroic career in exchange to be with her boyfriend (played by Dennis Trillo).

What kind of a woman is a Filipina anyway? Are they will always be portrayed as whips that can't live without men? Are they always going to play tug-of-war with other women to win the affection of a scrawny looking guy?

This ugly scenario is prevalent over other Filipina shows! When will a Filipina be depicted like Tru Davis or Lara Croft or Murphy Brown, womenn who can stand on thier own, without the encompasing shadow of male machoness?

Where are the real Filipinas? Where are the Gabrielas, the Urdujas nowadays?
