I just put dye in my hair then washed it out. I got dressed and went outside for my last cigarette for the night. The air smelled like smoke from a fire, like it smelled back home during the fall and winter.
Back home, during those seasons, I'd walk outside and smell the fire...the smell of burning wood and leaves. Smelling it here is a comforting smell, although is makes me a little home sick.
With all thats been going on in my life, I've been getting home sick a lot lately. I am -6.5 in leave days, so there is no way I can go home anytime soon. And now, with my company being brand new, I have the time to go home cause we don't really do anything. But by the time my leave is decent, we will be busy with training for deployment and with Christmas coming up, I wouldn't want to waste any of my leave that I do have. It gets pretty frustrating sometimes.
This last weekend, my company had 3 formations, which is not normal. We don't really ever have formations on the weekend. But we had to because people are alwasy missing from formation in the morning, so this was our punishment, and we were gonna keep on having formations until EVERYONE showed up. Took us 3 tries. And that weekend, I overheard many saying,"Well, guess I'm not going home this weekend." I wanted to backhand them all, cause atleast they live close enough to post that they can go home most weekends. I'm not going to see my whole family until Christmas. Some people need to open their eyes and see how good they have it.
Well it's bedtime for us old folk...I feel 90.
