Japanese Anti-Flu Suit Lets Wearers Fight H1N1 in Style

Posted on Oct 7, 2009

Worried about catching the dreaded swine flu? Need to update your wardrobe with some stylish and tailored work solutions? You can do both with the Haruyama Trading Co.’s dapper new anti-flu business suit, which the company claims protects wearers from the disease. That, or you could smear yourself in toothpaste, which isn’t exactly the best look for the workplace.  —KA

The Telegraph via Gizmodo:

The suit is coated with the chemical titanium dioxide, which reacts to light to break down and kill the virus when it comes into contact with it, according to Junko Hirohata. The chemical is a common ingredient in toothpaste and cosmetics.

The suit - which is indistinguishable from any other worn by Japan’s legion of “salarymen” - comes in four colours and styles, which are medium grey, charcoal, navy and a grey pinstripe. It will go on sale for about £365.

It's also used as a coloring agent in white paint - I'd recomment a latex based primer.

I'd just go with exposed areas of the body.

A couple of layers of latex primer and one could dispense with the clothes - except for an overcoat, maybe.
