The current behavior of the Republican party is a great example of why conservatives hate America, and more importantly, Americans. Conservatives know that Obama being led by progressive and liberal economic actions will fix the economy and cement Democratic rule for decades to come, just as it happened after the New Deal. There was a reason the Republicans used to be called the "Know-Nothings," precisely that they don't know how to create across the board prosperity while maintaining their ideology of feudal authoritarianism and social Darwinism.
Now, as Keynesian economics gets revived to save us from a depression, what are the conservatives doing to help out? Absolutely nothing except bitching and crying and screaming about the "insane" amounts of deficit spending, as if they forgot they doubled the national debt in 8 years of Republican rule. If they wanted to stay in power, they could have easily followed through with Bill Clinton's actions to reduce the national debt after we had gained a gracious 200 Billion dollar surplus at the end of his final term, but they had to be hard lining, "fiscal conservatives." The same kind of conservatism that landed us into this contractile, tanking economy.
