As human beings, we are all hypocrites. Whether or not we want to admit he, we will always be that way.
You may be right that we are all hypocrites. However, the hypocrites I'm discussing in my post are blatant and treasonous liars.
Terminating a pregnancy involves another person. Libertarian belief is that your rights end where they touch someone else's nose, as it were.
Some people believe life starts at conception, others [like myself] think it happens somewhere during the 1st or 2nd trimester, and still others don't consider it alive until birth.
However, if one were to assume the conception view, this means that abortion is murder of another life. Hence their adamancy, understandably, against.
If, like my belief, life starts in the 1st/2nd trimester, then all late term abortions are murder. Hence why I support abortion..up to a point. There is of course no magic date, so I pretty much think it's murder after the 1st trimester ends. I'd rather err on the side of caution.
Those that believe life does not start until birth are pretty much regarded as nutcases because of the fact that 3rd Trimester babies are very much able to be seen as 'alive'.
Anyway, hope this helps.

Might I also point out that I know Pro Life Democrats as well. In fact, Gov. Casey [deceased] of Pennsylvania was a well known Pro-Life Democrat.
I found it a bit surprising that you failed to list such Democrats in your rant. Perhaps you need to widen your mind to the many variations of Pro Lifers.

As a civil Libertarian, myself, I agree with you that rights in a free society cannot infringe upon others' rights for the benefit of the individual.
However, when it comes to "when life begins" or the "right" to life, it's simple for any true libertarian. You do not get the rights of a person until you become one. It's pointless to debate when "life" begins in the womb because "life" technically occurs all the time, from before conception to clinical death and beyond. Abortion would be murder if a fetus were a person. To become a person, however, you cannot have a parasitic relationship to the mother, and yes, it IS a parasitic relationship, by definition.
ANY and ALL restrictions of abortion on demand, either by law or by a medical practitioner's "moral" dilemma, is a direct violation of personal sovereignty, and is a violation of limited government by the state. State-enforced breeding, which is what the US had until 1973, is the other side of the same coin that China bases it's breeding policy on.
Conservatives will say "we need to act on principle, not emotion." Maybe they need to listen to their own dogma on these fundamental issues of liberty.
