Please inspect a half-dozen at a library. After sitting with a few for two weeks THEN you can decide which book/s might be worth actually buying, and WHETHER you've got enough grit & gumption to tackle this. [the pills are not magic, and counselors can only guide you, not assemble the internal repairs... to the Humpty-Dumpty that we can all sadly become] It will take intrepid homework to make progress with this. "Reinventing Your Life" (4Stars) [1993 =first version] by Dr Jeffrey Young & Dr Janet Klosko probably has the clues to WHY you are acting-out certain behaviors. I've only had it for a few weeks, but its the original "Schema Therapy" book and packed with awesome facets of people's [toxic] relationship choices and WHY they make them. Not a simple book to start with, unless you have self-knowledge and objectivity.
