Well, here was my "compliment" from your link:
Your intelligence attains the grand summation of molecular motion at absolute zero.I like it.
However, you said ..
There are countless charities, relief agencies and government programs out there which treat the symptoms of our social ills, but no united front to attack the symptoms at their source. And the source is a system of governmental checks and balances which is failing the American people and society as a whole.
I have to disagree that the source is the governmental checks and balances. The real source of the problem is us as a society (individuals and societal groups). We've forgotten that we are the ones that control the government. That's because we have a couple of generations that decided they couldn't let go of their mommies and daddies and become adults and take responsibility, for whatever reason.
People have forgotten that it takes just one voice to change the world, and that just because it "feels good" today doesn't mean it will be good for you for the rest of your life. Everyone has an excuse for something. It's the saddest state of affairs we have today ... awareness of self of the individual.
And it will be one of the most painful things to experience, for the self and for others around the awareness awakening.
I don't like what I see coming, but it has to come.

Thank you,
Your point is well taken and an omission on my part not to inspect that important element. I take it from the top down in ending with my rather undeveloped (rant) of a commentary at the end where individuals are taken to task. Also, I think I missed the point of my intended emphasis, which is " Where or what is the creation of the new voice of the people?" What has happened to the true intelluctuals who possess the knowledge and the power to instigate a movement? Is there an emerging experiment I am unaware of? Do individuals not see the trap of their thought processes?
Everything today just seems so much an exponential preponderance of artiface and rhetoric followed by a spoonful of sugar. When the real medicine arrived everyone will choke on it.
ROFLMAO!!!
You've answered your own question "What has happened to the true intellectuals ..."
We are!!!
It's not that we're so smart. They're so stupid!
Now, I'm smart enough to say I'm still trying to figure out that last paragraph. And I tried three of my reader voices! Should (can) I get a voice with a Texas drawl???
By the way, Gerry Spence is kickin' ass with his new book, which I'm going to order (a used copy) of this weekend. After I read it I'm going to mail it to him for an autograph.
Perhaps the revolution has begun.
aeschylus
Any successful revolution may have to stay under the radar until it reaches flash point.
Essentially the last paragraph says, in my best texas drawl, Folks... it's all a big load of bullshit... and you are eating it up faster than it can be served... but someday the menu is gonna change... and you ain't gonna like it one bit.
I wish I could let you hear the Opera voice that read that last paragraph (I'm testing Opera here). I swear he had a bit of drawwwl (or twang). I must be getting tired.
BTW, my Opera voice works on your page (just tried it), but the browser doesn't! Just for a change I wish I could find a browser where all the features work on more than a few websites.
I must be really smart. I actually can remember which browser to use on which site. But I'm going to invest the $$ I think and get a new standalone reader.
I'll look at AT&T for a Texas drawl male/female voice too ... or request if they have one. LOL
aeschylus
Also, I'm curious to know what part of the country you're in. I presume Texas.
I have all the ATT voices on disc here somewhere from when I was exploring the voice software. I am certain there is no Texas drawl available, but you could always put the speakers under water an get the same effect.

I'm in OK now; loved TX (still do), but it ain't big enough for me and my ex- both! if you know what I mean. Besides, it went Republican .... Yech!
No fault for not asking. The exercise for me here (in the open) in talking about my daily crap is to talk about the disabilities as a general part of a day. I used to only talk about the nitty gritty in "protected" communities, because everyone understood and you tend not to be blasted or felt sorry for all the time. It's just a way of life that I've lived a long time (although I've lost more functioning the past couple years, hence more time on computer).
Disabled are always complaining about not being "understood" but I perceive that most don't talk about the disability problems that occur day-to-day is because no one wants to talk about them openly. So I decided to test it ... or to test to see if I can handle the heat. If I can handle that, then maybe I can handle the next public exposure I'm going to get no matter what ... publication about two near death experiences, and what I've learned from them. The initial part is almost done and turned over to the researchers (and editors), but I suspect enough to make a book comes next. Oh well.
My disabilities ... I had a traumatic brain injury in 1973 that resulted in damage to the language center of my brain. I was able to compensate for many years. I was officially diagnosed with aphasia in 1989, and was warned that as scar tissue builds on the brain as you age, the symptoms would probably get worse. They did. Hence, I have problems speaking and hearing speech, and with comprehension of language. I use the text-to-speech readers to reinforce the meaning of what my eyes are seeing. It still takes several passes sometimes, other times I can read with my eyes only. In other words, the neurons are still working most of the time ... or about 50 percent. Brain injury is complex.
I also have an L4-L5 vertebrae fracture which also has been affected by "age" ... Add to that osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel, and just being an irritable bitch sometimes, and that's me.
The joke is that I may be 50 breathing years, but I have 75 years of experience. I "plunged" into life and took everything I could to the limit.
Worse thing I ever did was read most of the three libraries in my hometown growing up. It taught me to think and question. Then I died but didn't stay dead. Changed my perspective on a lot of things.
I am bald like Aeschylus by choice. It's the only way I can think of right now to let the world know (or at least people around me) how absolutely disgusted I am at the current situation (a bald revolutionary!) ... and because I always imagined I would end up on a mountain in Tibet, just contemplating life.
I'm starting to like the Neosoft voices more now, although I suspect that there may be some more new ones out within about six months. There are a lot of improvements, which is why I've been having problems on my older software and need to update.
And I'm going to email AT&T and Neosoft and ask if they have anything with a Texas twang ... By the way, I thought the way you get that (although I cahn drawl when I gotta!) is that left cheek full of chew while you talk and spit out of the right.
BTW ... I haven't mentioned it, but I was a Houstonian ... the only TRUE Texans! Dallas is a suburb of Oklahoma. Damn Yankees. Wait till I put up my Texas jokes. Hehehe.

I am doing 24/7 caretaking of my 90-year-old mother who had a stroke a year ago. That is why I have so much "spare" time to be here. I am constantly drained.
My first true girlfriend was from Houston. She was the sheltered daughter of an Occicental oil man. She used to iron her Levi jeans and would not have sex until marriage. Bummer!
I have another good friend who is from Texas who now runs her own Arabian horse operation in Penrose, CO. She won't have sex with me either.. because she is a lesbian.
Pablo
Okey dokey ... LOL
Well, at least you have sanity with the computer. All you need is someone to challenge your thinking so you can fine tune them when you're free to go tomcatting, huh?
Does this mean my racy jokes and stories from the past exploits won't offend you?
aeschylus
WHAT, ME OFFENDED?
