I hope this advice will be helpful and in time.  If at all possible, be sure to get PPO not HMO!  With PPO you'll be able to visit the Dr. of your choosing and also, should you ever have to go to the hosp., you'll have your choice there also.  Not so with HMO...with them you're locked into there framework, their Drs., their hosps., and the horror stories associated with their insensitivity and incompetency are bonechilling.  I hope this advice came in time.

Beyond that, make sure your father knows exactly what kinds of doctors and meds (including the specific ones you currently take) you need to be covered, and impress upon him that it is a necessity.  Don't be general; be specific.
