You know a government health program that really pisses me off? Ar kids. (Arkansas children's health program).
Now let me first say I'm all for health care for children...hell I hope someday this country will have national health care. But until it does "Ar kids" should be changed.
Did you know that "Ar kids" pays for thousands of unwed teen births every year while the mothers and fathers of these babies pay nothing? That's right folks! While you being a responsible citizen work everyday and pay your taxes, teens on "our kids" get pregnant and YOU pay for it and the parents get off scott free!
For some, it has become their "birth plan"...to have their kids while they are on "our kids" so it doesn't cost them anything! And did you know that the rate of unwed teen mothers in the US is totally out of control?
These kids should have to pay back society for these births. They feel no responsibility what so ever!
My husband works 60 hour weeks and pays taxes out the wazoo and we don't have insurance. Everything is out of pocket. But we pay for unwed teen to start their families...that sucks.
We need to hold these teens responsible for their actions in some way then maybe they'll act more responsibly. Weather it be through long term payment or community service something should be done.
We need to provide birth control on demand, without parental notice or consent. These stupid parents that think their controlling their kids are only deluding themselves and we're paying for it in the end.
I say provide health care for children but don't pay for their births.

Re: Stop "Ar Kids" paying for teen prenancies
I'd say, unless one of your close friends is a teen mom, it's pretty tough to say any part of what they feel.

I'd also say that no one in my circle of friends can afford the hospital costs of going in and delivering a child - and I'm in college. Most teens have all they can do to get through high school as it is - do you remember what a high school job usually pays like?

And as to holding the kids responsible, I'd suggest that electing to carry the baby to term, and undergoing all that those nine months involve (pregnancy is no picnic) isn't something she's likely to forget.

I say if your going to play the game, why should I and other hard working tax payers pay for your babies? Why not use birth control til you can pay for their births yourself? If you can't afford their birth how can you afford their food , clothing, shelter, medical, schooling? Nobody paid for mine...and I was a very young teen...14 to be exact with my first. But I paid for my own kids! We not only pay for the birth of these kids but then we pay for everything else too with health care, food stamps, school lunches. Hell, these kids arn't theirs...their ours! We're the ones who pay for them.
It is because of my very own grand daughter and some of her friends I wrote the post.My grand daughter had her first baby at 16 (Ar kids paid for him) then had her second just before her 18 birthday (Ar kids paid for him also). She purposely got pregnant and had her second so Ar kids would pay for it. She has been with the same guy since she was 12. Did he pay for anything? No Was he working ..yes. Is she the only girl around here who is using Ar kids to pay for her family? Hell no...it's a trend around here and around the country!
Let the tax payers pay for you kids then you won't have to.

Re: Stop "Ar Kids" paying for teen prenancies
Oh also, most all my friends were "teen Moms". Responsibility must be learned at a young age.Being responsible enough for "sex" means being responsible for the consequences of sex.
Things in this country will never get better til we all quit making excuses and take responsibility.
Why should I be responsible for other peoples kids? If their under 18 then  their parents should be responsible for them. If your child gets pregnant then they or you should have to pay ..not the rest of us.
I think my own daughter and her x husband should have had to pay for my grand daughters  babies if she couldn't. Wasn't she their responsibility?
