My friends and fellow citizens;
Know that someone hears your voice , who listens and understands.
Someone who does not judge you but supports your right to love whom you please.
Know that someone cries for you and hates the discrimination shown to you.
Take comfort that there are those of us willing to fight for your rights as citizen and a human being.
Those willing to stand and say "No , we will not tolerate intolerance!"

In my life I have seen hate and bigotry towards blacks and other minorities. I have seen women treated as slaves, sex objects and trash to be discarded. I have seen the poor shunned  , I have seen the mentally impaired or retarded
locked away and I have seen the elderly deserted and forgotten.
If I stand not against these things, then I stand not at all but fail miserably as a decent human being. For those that sit by and watch,  it is if they have partaken in the hate by their silence , neglecting to cry out to defend those being discriminated against!

Each night as I kiss my husband goodnight I am so thankful that the world allows me to love and be with this man I love so much! When I see your plight I realize how each time I hold his hand and walk down the street without judgment or stares from strangers that you do not receive this courtesy. I can not imagine the pain and loneliness you must sometimes feel!

But know that you can count on my support till the fight is over! I will march, vote, sign petitions and do what ever it takes to help you obtain the right that other humans have to marry the person you love and to adopt children!

I hope that I will live to see the day that "We wouldn't be judged for who we loved but whether we loved at all".

This is one of the most beautifully well written entries I have read in some time on a subject such as this. It brought tears to my eyes, many memories and thoughts to my mind, an ache in my heart for such a love.

I only hope I will soon see the day that America will be the shining example of  " humans rights" that it claims to be by granting full and complete equality to all it's people.
That no man or woman would be discriminated on the basis of sexual orientation, sex, race, religion or non-religion.
Abraham Lincoln said " "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
May we live to see the day that all men hold this to be true!

And indeed there's groups that are discriminated against that aren't even identified, and where it's hard to put your finger on it - like people who are judged to be weaker for not being pushy or loud or anything, or for not knowing how to say something, or who just don't fit the prototype, and fear kicks in when people don't understand

Now you have hit the nail on the head...fear. It is the #1 reason for bigotry. We fear those things, those ideas and those people we don't understand or that are different from ourselves.
Our minds are twisted with tales, myths, religious teaching and outright lies about people and we believe them out of fear. I have spent time with so many different types of people and we are all the same and basically want the same things.
I wish the whole world would go blind for one full year that we could not see our differences but hear our likenesses.
All men truly are equal but yet not treated equally.It is a shame upon mankind.

I'm behind what you stand for - you're quite the active... erm... activist for it now! I agree that there's a lot of similarities in what people want, and I wish all misunderstandings could be eliminated - I hope people can come to realise - and express (as it needs 2 for a handshake) those good intentions. Everything a human does is to try to satisfy some sort of need, even the negative stuff - even if killing stuff for fun - mankind just has to refine it's act so people can get the maximum pleasure from life for themselves + others at the minimum/no expense to anyone else.

And yeah, with the fear - I've heard christians thinking they're playing it safe (lol) - they assume it's more likely because they hear more about it in their culture, and are too afraid to think otherwise. Making decisions so themselves go to heaven (or caring at all about our own fate) is selfish anyway and if it did exist they may be totally unprepared, and probably miss the whole point of the teachings of 'love' and stuff if they get too caught up in fear (genuine love doesn't mix with fear I think)

 More heterosexuals need to take a stand beside their GLBT  communityand show the world "inequality" affects all of us!
No one should be denied their human rights!
