Soooo....are we happy about this or are we seeking new residences?
Frankly, I don't know how I feel. When I first heard they were selling, I was concerned to the point that I was looking, even if Huzband was not. I was sick to my stomach. We're paying a lot in rent and when it's not going to family it didn't seem right to pay so much for a semi-finished apartment with no storage.Anyway, we're saving so we can keep looking, but I am slightly reassured after meeting the husband of the husband/wife duo who bought the place.
That sounds really stressful (and strangely similar to what happened to my hubby & me during our first few years together)... I know it's hard to decide whether to stay or move out, but it sounds like you're doing a great job of dealing with it... Hang in there!!
Yeah... we're saving up so that if it becomes too stessful, we'll move. Until then, we'll deal.I'm constantly reminded that people often experience the same turnin points with different details, no matter who you are... I mean, everyone seems to have horror stories of past roommates, renting experiences, dentists, childhood, etc. What happened to you guys?
Ha! The short version... Our first home was a little room in a house we rented with 8 pot-smoking hippie types... Then hubby's stepmom offered to give us the lower flat of her San Francisco Victorian townhome (which actually belonged to hubby in the first place except she had contested the will after his mom died...) Anyway after we moved in, she changed her mind and decided to charge us $2500 a month, kind of a rent-to-own thing... Which we couldn't afford but decided to try anyway since we were already moved in... Then after 7 months we were completely broke and it was evident she was never going to work out any kind of ownership deal, so we decided to cut our losses & abandon ship at that point... Plus she was living above us the whole time, which was a nightmare, so I was glad to get out of there... Yeah, you're right, I think everyone has some kind of horror story with places where they lived (and I didn't even mention my crack & heroin-addict prostitute sis-in-law who lived in our basement... The cops were over at our place about twice a week... Ehh it was interesting at least!) Anyhow, it's SO nice to finally have our own place after all that... We're loving the happy, boring suburban life!
(By the way, in case you're wondering... Yes, that WAS the short version... LOL!)
