[swallow] (text by TheRacket)

of snowflakes

red mittens out in
a scarecrow pose
palms to the moon

rainbow ring

a crater of lips

to swallow the sky

ice petals wisp

About Creativity Exchange with a gallery of work so far.

Remember to check out TheRacket's portion of this week's work. [last wave]

I really loved this week's pieces. Regarding [swallow], I had so many different ideas, inspired by TheRacket's work. So many different things I wanted to try, so many parts of the story I wanted to illustrate, so many emotions I wanted to evoke. In the end, I had to select the one I thought would best capture the words TheRacket wrote. It may have not been the most elaborate, nor was it the most dynamic of the three I completed but I feel really good about the message, the style and the feeling it pushes.

Re: Creativity Exchange: Week 4
Are you doing most of these with a wacom tablet, or are you drawing them and then scanning them in? Very cool regardless...

I'm using a Wacom tablet with most of my drawings. Thank you. =)

I really love this choice, Nomad, particularly the words as snowflakes.  Wonderful!

Thank you! I liked it too. The original version had a brick wall behind it. I also was working on a more oriental style response with ink-like washes. There was also a very dynamic version with bold lines and an engaging pose. But like I said, I settled on this one, because I thought it was more peaceful and appropriate.

Snaps!  I REALLY like this one!  The illustration is just precious, and I too like the words as snowflakes.  I think the blank background (or GIANT WALL OF SNOW!!!!) works best.  I think the subtlety would be lost with a patterned background.

Can I order a print?

Nomad, you are really really talented.  There is an image that it reminds me of....which proves my theory of two people can create the similar without knowing of the other, both originals.  I think it's sort of miraculous, in a way to have that happen.

That is really cool. I would love to see that image if it's available to the public for viewing.

I appreciate your kind words. Thank you.

Re: Creativity Exchange: Week 4
Well, I can post it, I'm not sure if there would be any problem with doing so.   It was part of Fantasia 2000, I think.  The character's name is "Sprite".

I'm glad you liked my kind words! You are welcome!Image hosting by Photobucket There are literally hundreds more. I'm a Disney's Fantasia 2000 water Sprite junkie. I'd buy your drawing.

Re: Creativity Exchange: Week 4
You can delete that if you want.  I am not sure if there are any copywrite issues.   You really ought to watch the ending Firebird Suite of 1919 on that disk of the Disney Movie, Fantasia 2000.  It's powerful.  Well, to me, it was awesome.
