We went for a bike ride last night along the Niagara gorge- and I broke my camera... grrrr, it still takes pictures but I have absolutely no idea what they look like until I download them, lol.

Before I broke my camera I took the picture of the chipmunk and the moon, the rest are all lucky shots. What you're seeing is Canada across the water, and that is the largest pagoda/temple that I've ever seen but then I've not been to China. The chipmunks btw are friendly, my son was waiting for us to come down the hill and the chipmunks were running around his feet- at which point he thought they were going to run up his legs- now that would have been a picture!

The cable car runs over the gorge and you couldn't pay me to ride on it... ever since I had the kids I get nervous about certain things- like giant cages of metal suspended on itty bitty cables over rocks and rushing water.... Although one of these days I swear I am going to go sky-diving- but for that you get a trained person jumping with you- and they pull the parachute, lol.

The last picture is of a black squirrel. I don't know what it is but I am fascinated by black squirrels, they're just as cute as the brown kind but there's just something about them that gets me to shout (every time I see one) LOOK! A BLACK SQUIRREL! My mother and the kids just say, uh-huh while I stare at the squirrel until it scampers away.

I have more funny material about my parents coming- stay tuned!

When my dad was a kid they used to help fish the dead bodies out of the gorge.

Re: The Niagara Gorge
That's a cheery piece of news for this morning, lol. If you want to commit suicide by jumping NF is definitely the place. There are miles and miles of good places, not that I'm recommending that- So how scarred for life was he?

Re: The Niagara Gorge
I looked this up (well, I always meant to and now seemed like a good time) and it seems as though black squirrels are very popular, and here's a breaking piece of news- squirrels come in white! Now that I've never seen, I'd probably crash if I saw one. And 'regular' squirrels are gray, another thing I'd forgotten. At this rate I'm going to go squirrelly, lol.

Re: The Niagara Gorge
Hmmmm, and you read the sign.... glad I wasn't with you. I rode my daughter's bike and I am sore! I miss using my bike, she needs a different one and until she gets one I've been riding hers. I've been known to ride from Lewiston to Youngstown, but not lately. I didn't realize you could get to the power plant from Artpark... there must be access roads I haven't seen. I used to know that area pretty well but I can't imagine how you did that. Better you than me comes to mind.

Re: The Niagara Gorge
I try telling my kids it's a tour when stuff like this happens... lol. You're lucky they didn't push you over, that was a long ride. Usually I'm driving the car when tours take place and so far no one but me can drive... Although I'm sure my day is coming- they both act just like my parents, my mother zips past yard sales while I look longingly out the window and I'm pretty sure my daughter is going to do the same thing to me when she gets older. With my son and my father it's a toss up, you just never know what they'll do. Thank God the dog likes me, he's pretty much game for anything, he's the only ally I seem to have some days but even he has limits, once he jumped out of the window and was doing his own form of doggy shopping, I thought I would die of embarrassment but as usually happens I didn't, but I was really hoping....

Re: The Niagara Gorge
Your neighborhood is a welcoming place.

There is an Albino Squirrel Preservation Society. I have albino squirrel pictures saved in my favorite photos. We have a few black squirrels but I've heard they came over from Iowa (we really need to close those borders). I love squirrels, I just don't want too many of them in my yard. They are becoming a real problem here because certains seeds aren't available because of the late freeze. Word is they are stripping bark from trees and the trees have to be cut down.

Re: The Niagara Gorge
Good Lord! They're trying to preserve them? In what? Embalming fluid? Sheesh, don't people have day jobs?

OK seriously? I know what you meant, I'm just being funny. It seems as though my sense of humor wasn't erased completely. See now if I lived there in hell I'd be putting seeds out for the squirrels- next time I go to the park I want to bring something for the chipmunks to eat, they didn't seem to excited about the bread I brought. And I feed everything- I subscribe to the theory that there's enough to eat for everyone if we all would just share.

As for welcoming we'll have to see about that. I think somewhere in the next 10 years we'll have a population increase because 1- how many more people can possibly leave? and 2- property is cheap here. I'm hoping to be able to buy some of it before it goes through the roof.
