Our children are like me in the aspect of doing something, getting in trouble for it, and then turning around and doing it again. They have to learn things the hard way and are NOT afraid to admit when they do something wrong even if it is going to get them in trouble. Since I do know how my children are and I was the same way, I deal out some harsh punishments. We don't spank to much anymore. And when we did spank it was on the serious offenses. For a long time my sister and a few of my friends thought I was to hard on them and was a "mean" mom. Hell down in TX I stopped by a neighbor's house who was a county sheriff and had him come over and scare the blonde right off of DeLaney's head for stealing $10 dollars of quarters from my rummage sale money. Two years before that I had a friend of mine who worked County Dispatch for the Sheriff's department, plop both my kids' asses in a seperate county jail cell for their lil sticky fingers over taking change out of my piggy bank and daddy's truck for a 4 hours. Even as toddlers my kids had to pick up their rooms before bed, take their own plates to the sink, in general help clean up the house, and help feed and water all the animals. They did something wrong they got stuck in a corner, when that didn't work anymore they got grounded from things or situations that would just tear their lil hearts out. You know what, my kids are some of the most poliet kids out there, won't touch anyone's money now, and know they can't go outside and play until thier chores are done. As they get older and I am learning more of their personilies my punishments to them are more along the lines of embarassment and humiliation with them taken responsiblity of their actions. Case in point, Coltin had to stand in front of project and apologize to everyone including his sister for how he was behaving. Sure I knew he was acting up because he was being picked on but that didn't give him the right to take it out on EVERYONE. DeLaney so far has been pretty good and hasn't had the humiliation on doing somethign like that.
So now all of you know I am a "mean" mom I am going to give a great big KUDOS to a Ms Ivory Spann out in CA! This mom is also a "mean" mom and I say good for her! Her twelve year old daughter got suspended from school for a week for bullying! Now most parents would just yell at their kids for doing something like this or ground them. I am all for kids learning to deal with bullying at school like some of us did growing up but anymore kids in today's world take it to an exterme and it has become a major problem in all schools. Well Ms Spann wasn't going to put up with her girl being a bully and added to her punishment that she recieved from the school. Ms Spann had her daughter make up a very large poster that said she was a bully and she got suspended from school and it told ppl not to be like her. Ms Spann's daughter had to not only stand at her school but other local schools until Thursday with her poster. I bet Ms Spann's daughter is one humiliated lil girl and is now in the process of organizing anti-bullying rallies.
