The first three pictures are of the Forrest Mushrooms my mom bought for us (I paid her back:P).  They are smaller then the other type of shrooms we normally eat from the wild and aren't as buttery tasting but still GOOOOOOOOD!

The first picture is of them soaking all day in salt water.  Salt water kills all the lil bugs and such off of them.  The second picture is of them nice and cleaned off (part of them anyway) and ready to be dipped in batter!

The third picture is of them deep fried and yummy tasting.

I used crackers for this go around of breading.  The kids perfer that over flour.  But I perfer the flour breading mixed with a lil corn meal myself!:D

The next round of pictures if of the tree that came down in that big thunder storm that rolled through our area of NE in the middle of May.  We had no clue that it came down!  And our bedroom window is on that side of the house! The top window showing is Colt's window.  Our window on that side of the house isn't showing.  Colt didn't even hear the tree coming down.  And it had to hit hard!  Randy had to hook the big truck up with his chains to pull out some of the bigger branches from my yard, they were embedded into the ground! The lil dog kept waking us up that night and we kept getting after the poor thing for barking!  She was just trying to warn us the tree was falling was all!

Wow. Luck it missed the house. We've lost a lot of trees over the past 33 years, but this storm didn't hit us... except for 3 inches of rain.

We got real lucky, the sky was a neon green the whole evening, the winds picked up about 8 pm and it rained off and on all day that day and that night about 11 we could hear all the trees just a shaking and rattling and moaning.  But according to Sioux Falls and Omaha Weather Reports we weren't in any storm warnings or watches..........MY ASS!

And this tree we found out on the second day of clean up (we are still cleaning it up) did hit our light pole!  We thought it missed it but the box on the pole did get hit and bent pretty good.  We ended up calling the electrcal folks out to assess if it needed to be replaced.  They said nope we got lucky though.  No wires busted and the box bent in a way that it didn't affect and will not affect anything.

oh I haven't had those kind of mushrooms in many a moon.

Man that was sure a blessed miss from that downed tree!! we have 3 large old oaks in our back yard that are way too close to our house, and so far so good, they seem to have been holding up, and hope they continue too, our bedroom is right where it will hit if it happens!!

Re: A Variety of May Pictures!
Well I have been waiting for the mussel or how ever you spell it mushrooms.  Still found in the trees but not ON the trees like these ones are.  But I think we missed out on them.

Yay we got real lucky.  There is a stand of trees that sits between the house and big barn.  We have been worried about the two that are hallowed out from the years and it was the one we weren't worried about that keeled over!  Those trees are older then my folks whom are in their early 60s.  We think they might even be older then my granny who is in her middle 90s.

Re: A Variety of May Pictures!
The worst damage it could have done is blown our electricity for a while even if it came down all the way. But we were really lucky.
