I find this statement offensive and untrue.  I personally have seen a number of maps of the United States, and I can firmly assert that there is a difference between a California liberal and a redneck from Arkansas.  California is a state on the West Coast, and Arkansas is a state many hundreds of miles east.  Hence, someone from California cannot be the same as someone from Arkansas.
