smurfy reports on an interesting holiday initiative.  From democracyinaction:

"With your help, CCR will flood the Oval Office with copies of the Constitution this holiday season. If you sign this letter, CCR will send it along with a copy of the Constitution to the White House as a seasonal reminder that the Constitution needs to be upheld ; not destroyed. We hope to send President Bush more than 5,000 copies of the Constitution by January 2008."

Apparently more than 3,000 folks have already signed up.

Re: Send President Bush a Constitution
It really depends on what you mean by socialism, since no one is really running on a socialist platform. I hope you are joking, anyway. The Constitution of the United States explicitly states that one of the six reasons for establishing the Constitution was the promotion of the general welfare. That is right in the Preamble. It is mentioned again in Article 1, section 8.... If Hilary wants everyone to have access to affordable heath care, it is very constitutional, as that directly deals with the general welfare, one of the things that congress specifically has the constitutional power to raise money for.

How exactly is he protecting us? You need to go back and re-read the Constitution.

By keeping the war that Middle-Eastern fundamentalists started on their turf, not ours. You can argue the pretense of Iraq all you like, but the fact is that every post 9/11 terrorist attack on United States' soil has failed.

Which attacks?

Hey, if you think that keeping this occupation going is worth borrowing and printing more money then more power to you.

Re: Send President Bush a Constitution
That's why you listen to the news.

It's not about money. I don't know if you remember that day when the towers were hit, but I was terrified, and anybody that isn't has a real short memory.

Oh, I listen to the news. I just don't trust the mainstream media or corporate media.

I'm more afraid of big government.

Re: Send President Bush a Constitution
Well, can't say as I blame you for that. Still, though, if you can sort through the sensationalism, there's been activity.

Big government scares me as well, though, only really stupid people think that our big government is litterally plotting against the lives of Americans in the same calibur as Islamic fundamentalists. And don't fall into the trap of thinking the political left EVER means smaller government. It may seem that way sometimes, especially in reguards to post-1960's ethical treatment, but big government exclusively gets bigger the further left on the spectrum you drift, until you reach national socialism (like Nazis). If you drift very far right, you get Anarchy (Articles of Confederation)

Maybe he did a little something.

Re: Send President Bush a Constitution
To date I haven't heard of a single thing that Bush has done that is outlawed in the Constitution, and yes, I've read the constitution. Admitedly, I haven't agreed with a great many things that the President has done in his administration, but the fact remains that it's all been completely legal. Admittedly one could make an argument against the Patriot Act, but it's a matter of interpretation still, which, the Supreme Court has never declared the entirety of it as Unconstitutional, which means everything they haven't made a statement on is fair game. I'm not saying that I like it, I'm just saying that Bush covers his tail end fairly well.

5,000 copies isn't exactly "flooding" the white house.  I'm sure they get more letters than that in one day.
