tobefree alerts us to real-life news, straight out of the movie "The Shawshank Redemption," from a prison in Elizabeth, NJ:

"Two jail inmates used photos of bikini-clad women to hide holes they used to escape and left behind a thank-you note, signed with a smiley face, for a guard they claimed helped them ...

... Jose Espinosa, 20, and Otis Blunt, 32, squeezed through the openings sometime before dawn Saturday in a high-security unit of the Union County jail, jumped onto a rooftop below, and made it over a 25-foot-high fence topped with razor wire."

Unlike in the "The Shawshank Redemption," where Tim Robbins character spends 19 years building a tunnel to escape the prison, it took the New Jersey pair only a few weeks to make their escape.  As of the latest report, authorities are still searching for the fugitives.

Re: NJ Inmates Make Shawshank-style Escape
Damn... I haven't seen the movie, but apparently I should. Even though two criminals escaped their punishment, I think the real life story is beautiful. The movie must be wonderful.

I wonder what they did to end up in jail. I hope they deserved to be free and are never found again...

I saw the movie a few months back for the first time and thought it was incredible, instantly became one of my favorites.  I need to get it on DVD.

It's something I knew I should see if I ever wanted to call myself a movie buff. I've been putting it off. Is Morgan Freeman in it? He's one of my favorites, and if I remember correctly, he stars.

I'm adding it to my Netflix. Ah, I love the internet.

Yup, he's in it and fantastic.  I also put off seeing it.  At a certain point, I was embarrassed that I'd never seen the film and thought seeing it for the first time in 2007 would be kinda lame, but better late than never I suppose.

Last I saw it, Target had it on sale for a decent price; I don't remember if it was a sale price or a regular price, but it was good.

I think that if two inmates care enough about good movies to watch Shawshank Redemption, they're fit to return to society.

Not really, but I'm only getting one chance to say that.

You have to admit, it kind of seems like it could be unreal though obviously it is real.
