Much has been made of Starbucks being one company that could be in trouble in a bad economy, with the theory being that people won't be as willing to spend $4 or $5 on a cup of coffee when money is tight.  McDonald's is looking to capitalize on this concept, and is launching a new ad campaign directly attacking Starbucks in hopes of improving their own coffee sales.

And, they're taking it right to Starbucks' backyard in Seattle.  From Fox News:

"Among the accusations the fast food chain is lobbing: "Four bucks is dumb" and "Large is the new grande," the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported ...

... In all, about 140 billboards that insult Starbucks have gone up in western Washington state."

While the Starbucks haters will probably be amused by the campaign, the real question is: are you drinking less Starbucks these days?  Or, more McDonald's for that matter?

lol McDonalds... Starbucks... it's all the same shit. I'm satisfied with some home brewed coffee and a regular home cooked meal. I save lots of money that way.

Clemson isn't in Aiken...And in Aiken (right outside of Aiken in Montmorenci), where I live we get our water from a well...it's not as nasty as the water here.

Oh gee, I got the county wrong, I got the name wrong... just disregard everything I have to say =)

And a well! Our water comes from an underground lake. I dunno if there is a difference. The Edwards Aquifer here though

Ugh. Being a barista, all of this pisses me off. Starbucks is gross. McDonalds is WORSE. At least starbucks employees steam their own foam! All the McDonalds folks do is press a button! And for what?! the exact same or maybe even HIGHER price than an actual coffeeshop with real coffee! fresh espresso! This is pretty low of Mcdonalds, actually..... Starbucks shoudl put out an add about nasty greasy burgers or heart disease.
