"Blonde Ambition," a new movie that debuted this past weekend starring Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson, grossed $1,190 in ticket sales.  Yes, you read that correctly: one thousand, one hundred, and ninety dollars.

The film was only shown in 8 theaters in Texas, but nonetheless, it means that each screening attracted around 6 customers.

Can someone remind me why this girl is still famous?

Re: Jessica Simpson's Latest Film: $1200 Opening Weekend
Damn! I saw that the other day and didn't have the blond ambition to submit it.

Maybe she isn't making sales because of her football playing boyfriend? Isn't there something going on with that? Like, she went to one of his games and he had the worst game of his career?

lol, yea, she is dating Tony Romo, starting QB of the Cowboys.  He had his worst game of his career when she was in the stands, and now she's banned from future games.

It kind of reminds me of the hoopla surrounding Zyzzyx Road, a 2006 film co-starring Katherine Heigl.  It was released in one theater in Dallas for six days, and it grossed $30.  That's it -- just $30.

However, it was not indicative of Heigl's career; her movie follow-up, Knocked Up made quite a bit of money at the box office and through its DVD release.  I have a feeling that we haven't heard the last from Jessica Simpson's film career just yet...

There's a little more to the story than that.  (And technically, it only made $20.)

... but it seems to be a similar reason for both films -- the domestic theatrical release allows for salaries to be scaled down, so both movies were released quietly before the DVDs were released.  The "Blonde Ambition" DVD release is slated for next month.

I just hope they don't make a "Dukes of Hazard II: The Legend of Boss Hogg's Hog..."

I didn't get much publicity. I live in Texas and never heard of the film. Maybe it should have gone straight to video?
