A family in Sacremento, California lost their dog as it wandered off onto the street last Saturday. Tinkerbell, the tiny chihuahua, took off down the road chasing a car, where a neighbor saw a stranger snatch her up.

A few days ago, the owner received a call with great news: Tinkerbell was fine! When she thanked the stranger and offered the $50 reward, the stranger refused -- and demanded $200.

After being worried for the safety of the dog and unable to afford the requested amount of cash, the owner called the Sheriff's Department. They told her it was a civil matter. No news has yet to be reported on the matter of the small pup being held for ransom.

If stealing is crime, then should the police have done more to help this family and man's best friend? Or are the police right in leaving this a civil matter?

Re: It's Gonna be $200 If You Ever Want to See Your Dog Again
I have no respect for cops right now. If you want to know why check out my latest blog. But yes they should have done something. What is this country coming to when we can even use our law enforcement to help settle things.

"I'm sorry, you want $200? Well how about I come down there and PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE."

Seriously. Would it still be a civil matter if fists were involved?

Fuck the police.

Cops only want to become involved if they can impose their self-righteous authority on someone. Besides, they have better things to do. They are busy making money for Leviathan.

I've found it is extremely rare these days to come upon any organization or entity that will willfully carry out any of the services it was originally intended to perform.

Comically, if the dog owner skipped law enforcement altogether, agreed to pay the $200 and then met the ransomer at their home or elsewhere and lovingly proceeded to beat the holy hell out of the a$$hole with a nine iron, he or she would immediately be admonished for 'taking the law into their own hands' and not calling the police...

Accidents can always happen but everyone needs to keep their furry friends safe in a well protected, escape proof yard. It's not the dogs you can't trust- it's the humans.

Not that I condone using a nine iron on someone. Maybe a sock full of pennies...or a flamethrower. Ok, a nine iron- if that's all you can find.
