honestly, the only thing i care about is the medals.
i just don't think china deserves that gold in gymnastics that should have gone to nastia liukin. and no, i'm not biased to the usa...i would feel the same if it had happened to any other team.
but yeah, i figured china was do some image modifications. who doesn't these days?

yea, I thought Liukin deserved that one ... but, the US commentators on NBC were so ridiculously biased towards the US athletes it made it hard to not think they were best, especially when you know as little about how gymnastics is scored
exactly. the only guy who really knew what he was talking about...and not bob costas...was the american girls' coach...the guy who sounds like dracula.
yeah. I don't agree at all with the judging on most of the gymnastics. i just wanted to see fairness. isn't the Olympics supposed to be about fairness, humanity and the true spirit of life, liberty and all that stuff?
They are supposed to be biased. I don't want U.S. commentators acting like they don't want the U.S. to win.

Nastia Liukin did win the all around women's medal, which she deserved. China did deserve the team medal over the USA. Alicia Sacramone pretty much screwed things up on floor and beam for the US.
But yeah, the judging in gymnastics is kind of ridiculous, and yes, a couple of times, it seemed like China got a little extra, undeserved boost in the scoring.

I have to admit, I don't care. Its not worth worrying about, especially with all of the media spin, they could make anything seem true, yes?
So long as it's entertaining and not intentionally hurting people, who cares?
It's unfortunate I think. but not surprising.
this has been a popular conversation in my household as well, and i personally have conflicting feelings about it.
i think it's great the china was allowed to host the games, and that the world is accepting them back into the "community", as they have been shunned for some time (and still are). but honestly... they're just making themselves look bad. they remind me of the cocky, pretentious kid that everyone always teases and hates being around. then, the one time you give them a chance... they do all sorts of shady, back-stabbing things.
this was their opportunity to shine and show how amazing they are as a country... and they only hurt themselves and their people by all of the sneaky weird crap they did.
it's just sad and disappointing.

While all of us believe it's shady and stuff, which it is... but they are doing it because they want to be the best Olympic host by far... which so far isn't really that good, considering what leaked out.
I'm Vietnamese Chinese and Cambodian... but I'm still insulted that china would bother to cheat to make their reputation better.
I don't mind the fireworks part, or the lip synching, but the Han being out there and if the gymnasts are under 16 is kind of a disappointment.

There have been some pretty amazing events at the Olympics over the past week and a half, ranging from the huge opening ceremony to Michael Phelps swimming records and the incredible speed of Usain Bolt.
