It began with the suggestive pictures of her at a friends sleepover.  Then she showed up on the red carpet with jet-black-hair and heavy make-up.  Her outfits became shorter and her tops appeared more low cut.  Recently racier photos surfaced on the web of her laying in a boys lap, showing off her green bra, and then the final shocker hit the press of 15 year-old Disney star, Miley Cyrus, posing almost nude for an upcoming Vanity Fair Edition.

In trying to mitigate against the steady media circus attacking Miley’s once portrayed good-girl imagine, the pop-idol promptly released a statement to People declaring, “My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed”.

In Miley’s defense Disney responded by supporting their star and pointing the finger at the irresponsibleness of the magazine stating, "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines”.

Vanity Fair quickly rebutted Disney and Miley’s comments by making the public aware of the presence of both her parents, grandparent, and teacher on set during the shoot.

So who is to blame?  Is Miley old enough to be responsible for her actions and decision to pose a certain way with or without clothing?

Do you think Miley is just a few short years behind becoming the next has- been pop idol disaster?

I think she's one tequila and two shots of jeigermiester from being Britney Spears. If she has any decency, she'll stop her attention seeking ass before it's too late.

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
lol she got screwed over by Vanity Fair and you want to blaim her for it? The myspace pics she got "exposed" on where nothing dirty even.. just a teen girl being a teen girl...

wearethemusic on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
I completely disagree and I think that's incredibly ignorant of you to say.

If I had a daughter who was a teenager and I found pictures of her on the internet showing her bra off to the camera I would be absolutely livid. Obviously I had not raised her with the proper morels to realize that hyper sexualizing herself is a disgrace to herself and to her family.

When I was a teenage girl I would have NEVER done such a thing. I'm eighteen, still a teenage female, and I still think it's despicable.

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Ok so this is my third time writinng this and I am choosing not to. It is not as though I dont have good argument I just reliese this will just make you reply and then I wil reply and this will go on and on and we will start to repeat ourself because this is all on opinion and how the media wants to twist it which for some reason most people will fallow.. So that is my reply which is not a reply and please dont repl;y because I will have to reply to it again with another none reply like this which would be just as stupid as this one so please dont reply and just fallow the media as you wish too.

BoboBegone on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Just one question.. have you EVER shown cleavage before in your life? Put a dess on with a slip up the slide showing a little leg... some people would call THAT hyper sexualizing youself.. just remember everything is different to everyone and to me.. these picture really are not shit...
wearethemusic on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Touché. I do from time to time wear button down blouses that yes, show off a bit of cleavage. But I'm an adult. I mostly just had a problem with you saying that it was just a 'teen girl being a teen girl'. Just because it's the majority of what female teenagers do doesn't make it okay nor justifiable.

Also, it's spelled 'follow' not 'fallow'. To 'fallow' the media would be
  1. To plow (land) without seeding it afterward.
  2. To plow and till (land), especially to eradicate or reduce weeds.
Even if you replace (land) with (media) it doesn't make sense. Also, I'm not trying to start a huge internet argument where we all act like retards and call each other names -- I'm simply trying to hold a discussion. That... is what these little news articles are for, or have I somehow been led astray by the fact that they ask questions at the end of them?

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Lol girl I have the WORST spelling in on this site so trying to correct me is a waist of time. If I have to write correct and sound smart and everything I will but for a site like this.. I have learned that there is no reason for it.

I still stand by what I said when it comes to a Teen girl just being a teen girl. She is ONLY 15. Yes the Vanity Fair pics should have been done different if not at all but when it comes to the myspace ones.. trust me if you surf around that site for a very short bit you will notice that those are not at all that bad for what is on there... it is just gross and I worry for even our gen when it comes to getting old.. I mean hell if we are this bad just think what the next gen will be like..

Lmao... it is amazing how fast things can turn around for two people talking huh? a couple comments ago we were almost at each other next and I dont know about you but I have a smile on my face when I saw I got another comment from you lol... Anyways to the Generations comment..

I know I have not been to much of a help to this world yet but over all just look how in a whole our generation has become. Drugs are so comment the use of pot and such is not a shock.. almost exvepted even... We Americans trully are not going up when it comes to intelligence. As in my comment above I am one of the worst spellers I have ever met. Because most of my days have been on a computer I stopped working on that at a young age. Now they are giving the kids computer classes as soon as they get into school. By the time we are old I WILL look smart just becasue everyone under us will not know how to spell anything over 4 letters long wiht out Spellcheck correcting it for them. That is if they dont just have to talk out their reports and the computer types it for them. Scary but probably true. Anyways I am ranting so ttyl. :-)

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
I gotta say I agree with you on that.  If I were a dad with a daughter and was in this situation (let's say we're not talking about someone famous for a moment) I'd be deleting her online accounts and grounding her ass for a bit.  There's a difference between a girl trying to be sneaky and taking a picture that - "accidentally" - gives a direct view down her shirt and actually lifting her shirt up and taking one.

To me, that shows where her thoughts are at.  She sees these pop stars not wearing underwear and posing nude for magazine covers and she figures out that she is a pop star now... she "ought to be doing that."

Unfortunately she has 7 options now.

1) Start doing drugs/abusing alcohol
2) Go further with these pictures
3) Get pregnant
4) Get married young and get divorced weeks later
5) Get arrested for some sort of bad driving
6) 1-5
7) Duck out of the spotlight and stop it all

I just don't see her going any other way.

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Thank you. I appreciate having a little bit of support here. And I don't think she has any other options either.

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
I'm not blaming her for it, HER PARENTS were there. What the hell were they thinking?! She's FIFTEEN! If she was 17-18 I wouldn't have said anything... but she's 15! She's a teen, but a young teen. Although she is a star so she has to deal with more shit then the average teen... But still, didn't they look at the picture before deciding to let America see it?
BoboBegone on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Well tehy probably did not think America would go and look at this pic and see a 15 year old almost naked. they probably did not expect America to be just a bunch of Pervs that let there minds bend to whatever the media wants them to think and see...
Unitedybevol on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
That is a really good picture and everything and it's over all beautiful. I probably wouldn't have noticed it was Hannah Montana the 15 year old (seeing as how I don't care to keep up to date with celebrities) until this post decided to make her out to be a whore. -_-. Society loves to mess around with the, Innocent to the naughty fucked up image. I actually only posted the comment to laugh, It would definitely be sad to see someone turn their life down Brit's lane.

Over all, that is a really good picture, reminds me of sin city. And I think that kind of style has been done a bunch of times before...
neptune on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
The stars "Love" and "Actually Thrive" on publicity... be it good or bad. I think that her parents know this, and like "Madona" who in my opinion, went "In and Out" of Virgin versus Vixen, never ran out of "Photographers" or the "Fame=Cash" it generated." Besides, showing the "Sexual side of herself" is not a sin, even if she is 15. My hormones were "Raging" at 14! It is perfactly "Normal!" She would not be a complete girl, if she were "Just a sexless, human being. Men tend to want to "CATIGORIZE" women as either "little goody two shoes" or "outright sluts!" This is "Totally Rediculous!" They are "Neither" in reality! They are just "REAL GIRLS!"

THE IMPORTANT THING IS, that they are "PROPERLY DISCRIMINATING" as to whom they "ACTALLY SLEEP WITH, for  in doing so, they are protect their future children!
Unitedybevol on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
I know there's real girls, But I'm thinking about all the fucking perverted pedophiles out there!! I mean just recently so fucker was caught getting a bj from a 13 year old... How do you expect me to feel about a 15 year old half naked?

I don't care for her personal life, that is her business, who she goes out with where she goes or what she does. That's her life, I don't care. I'm just worried about what EVERY other little girl thinks when they look at her. I know some little girls that think of her as a role model, Alexandria, Scarlet, an Sarah. I'm worried about what they are thinking. And how they are going to grow up.
neptune on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
I undertand your concern. That is why it is "Really Important" for a young girl to have a "Close relationship" with her "Parents," and that they be able to "Have an open dialogue" about "Sex" and "All of it's "Positives, verses it's Negative dangers!" It is "Equally important" for young boys to have this same information, and relationship, with their parents. Unfortunately, far to many young kids get their "Education" the "Hard" way! Off of the "Street!" Or in the company of other "Crazy teens" in their social group! There are not that many good "Parents" out there! I think "THAT" is the problem. Hannah Montana is "still a teen herself," experimenting with different roles! Hardly ready to become a "Role model at 15." Her parents are probably letting her "Play out the different parts of herself, not wanting to "Stiffle" her "Sexual side"" but still guiding her... I do hope!
Unitedybevol on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
It doesn't matter if Hannah thinks she's ready to be a role model, if a child likes her and thinks she's a great person... then yeah she's going to be a role model, regardless if she's ready. I don't have anything against that picture, like I said before it looks well done, it's just how society is going to look at it. I would be glad for her to explore who she is, and what woman she wants to become. And I feel kind of bad that society will jump at everything someone does, especially because she's a star.
neptune on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
That is "all quite true!" Our only hope is that her young audience will be taught not to "jump to conclusions" every time they see a new picture, or read a story. Do you have daughters?
Unitedybevol on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
I'm twenty, and although I would love to have a family of my own, I don't and I'm single haha. I have some friends and sisters of friends who love Miley. Including Julie, the person who commented down below. I just don't want them thinking it's okay to be showing boys their bras etc. (With exception from Julie, she knows not to.)
neptune on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Yes, it definately sends out a "Sexual message." Really young girls may think that this is "Cool"... or should I say "Hot," but it is also a bit dangerousl. Some of the "Young, and "Hot Blooded" guys, may get "Rough" with them!

Girls, and "Women" are "Multi Faceted" creatures... Not all "One way... such as "Cool Chick" or "Hot Chick." They are "Both" depending on "What day it is!"

Whereas, guys are "Pretty much, "Always ready to be sexual! All they need is the "Slightest encouragement" from an "Attractive female!"

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
This is unrelated to the argument, but I think you might want to lay off on the inverted commas. They're not used in context, and it makes your comments, which I believe are quite valid and interesting, difficult to read.

I dont' have anything against her. I'm just worried about how other little girls would grow up. And she wasn't manipulated. She voluntarily took the photo shoot. I'm just worried about other kids. I have no problem with her, and I know you're one of her fans. ^-^. you've told me a bunch of times now lol.

lol i know that you know im a HUGE  miley fan just making sure lol! how do you know that they just they didnt manipulate a 15 year old girl??  and yeah IF it was voluntary than yeah well she made a mistake i guess, everybody makes mistakes. lol thanx for that comment you made up there, yeah i wouldnt do anything like that. oh and sry for not going on for a long time, been busy, well reply back whenever bye! ttyl
Unitedybevol on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
because it's going to take ALOT to manipulate a 15 year old girl with her parents, teacher, and family around... not only that, but that picture up above, where she's pulling down her shirt to show her bra, that's not exactly defensive. To me it looks more like she's teasing guys... (or lesbians and bi's... they can take it the wrong way too.) Point is, she's teasing someone, with that picture. It's fine... Im' on like a minute or two everyday, just to check the inbox and answer everyone back like usual lol. I'll ttyl ^-^.

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
i dont get wat you mean by its going to take alot to manipulate a 15 year old girl... and the picture where shes pulling down her shirt to show her bra, who knows she could of been at a party taking silly pictures or she was probably just bored... idk.... how is she teasing people by the picture....???  yeah ill be on more often also. ok well ttyl bye!
Unitedybevol on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
Well she's teasing people because there are people on this planet that would get turned on by that. People out of every disgusting category exist.

what I meant by it was going to take alot to manipulate her is: 1) her parents are around (2) Her teacher was there (3) Vanity Fair has to get approval from her parents, her teacher, from her to do a nude photo shoot. Which means she has to take off her shirt and bra. So it would be hard for Vanity Fair to just manipulate her.
swimmerchic101 on
Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
uhhhhhh i dont feel like typing, but i have to prove my point, especially if it has to do with miley!!!!!! ok well shes is NOT teasing people!!!!!! and they did manipulate her because her parents werent around when they CONVINCED her to do "that". nd 2nd of all, nobody knows if her teacher was around!!!! but yeah i guess you could say that it is hard for them to manipulate but guess wat, they did!! im sry but miley is such a good person in general and yeah i havent met her, i went to her concert but i haven met her.. can you give me your email adress so i can prove my point?, that shes a good nice beautiful person i mean..

i just looked at the Vanity Fair site. She said her favorite show is Sex & the City: http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2008/06/miley200806 I think that's kind of dumb for a 15 year old to watch. and those pictures with her father are a little strange. eh. I never watched her show anyway. But she is the next big superstar.

Re: Hannah Montana, What Have You Done?
I think Sex & The City is dumb for anyone to watch =) jk -- it is just not my cup of tea. But YES, I have to agree that the pictures with daddy are a little strange. Oh well -- her show is excellent. Emily Osment (Haley Joel's little sister!), Mitchell Musso, & Jason Earle are all talented actors =) My favourite Disney talent pool, however, comes from Phil Of The Future. Ricky Ullman is so charming!

I haven't seen Hannah Montana yet. I suppose I could. See, you have a little sister. When I was babysitting years ago, I caught a little bit of Lizzie McGuire

And yes, I saw one episode of Sex & the City and couldn't believe anyone would watch that. But then again....I don't know. It just seemed excessive and exaggerated to me.
