I saw a piece of this, and he was making an announcement admitting to it, and I believe his wife stood next to him.
I'll be damned if I were to stand next to my husband if he ever did some of the things these men are doing, ESPECIALLY when in the public eye.

What surprised me most was finding out he was a regular client of that Emperor's Club or whatever it was. A regular, for pity's sake. This wasn't some hot woman he saw at a party and had to possess for an evening. This was an enterprise in which he engaged at least occasionally, if not regularly.
No one is perfect. But it saddens me to think that he apparently thought more of his own pleasure than he did of what this would do to his family when it got out.
Unless he thought it never would. Thing is, stuff like this almost always does. And usually at the worst possible moment.

with power comes a certain arrogance and sense of entitlement, i think, which is why people like this seem to think they can preach one thing and do another. i find it ironic that the man got busted for what he was supposedly so against. personally, i do not understand why women will stand by their men in situations that are humiliating and deragatory to women. (i don't mean that in the way you probably think, either....i think prostitution is one of those crimes that is certainly prosecuted unfairly; rarely to the *johns* get arrested/go to trial, etc...it's the prostitutes themselves. i also happen to think we have more serious crime that could use the tax dollars to investigate and prosecute....this particular case is more about whose money was used and political payback and humiliation than it is about the crime itself, imho.) but back to the woman thing. i only understood it when hillary clinton did it, because i believe she had her eye on occupying the white house in the future...we're just now getting a woman running for president, no way would a *divorced* woman be able to run for the office. i said i understood that, because her ambition is unlimited; not that i condoned it. perhaps there are women out there who can forgive that sort of betrayal by a spouse, but to be so publically humiliated? i couldn't do it. and i feel a mess of different things for a woman who would stay in a marriage for the lifestyle/the name/the wealth: pity, contempt and sadness....because even in this day and age, apparently we are not complete without a man, regardless of what sort of pondscum he may be.
could you forgive your husband if he cheated on you? if he made a public spectacle out of you and your marriage?
I completely agree with the rationale stuff.
If the Spousal Unit cheated on me, yes, I could forgive him. If the thing was over and done and he was truly repentant. For sure once. After that, I'd have to see. However, if he were a public official and asked me to appear on his behalf right after he were caught, I don't know that I'd be able to do so so immediately. I'd hold my head high in private and keep my opinions between me and God, but I don't know that I could do what these women are doing.
I dated a politically minded guy, once upon a time. I'm glad that didn't work out. And I'm glad he eventually shunned politics, too.

It's becoming something I roll my eyes at this and move on. It's just another politician that's involved in a sex scandal.

Actually, be more precise, it is another DEMOCRAT... Clinton, Condit, Spitzer, ther is a long line...
maybe that's because the republicans are the only ones spending tax money on investigating all the democrats
I don't care for either party, but I'm recalling the amount of wasted money that went toward Lewinsky-gate.
dude,
as a gay man--the last 25 years have been nothing short of FEAR and LOATHING..
yes, they all do it--

There was a prostitiute who was put before trial last year in DC. She said she had a long list of government officials, congressman, and senators who were Democrats and Republicans. She said she would bring this as evidence if they pursued convicting her. They settled so the information wouldn't leak.
This isn't a Republican (Craig, Foley, Haggard, Allen, Glen Murphy Jr....all BTW homosexuals) thing. This isn't a Democrat thing. It's political corruption. Plain and simple.
But here's a list of neo-conservatives & conservatives that have been in sex scandals: LINK
Dems have nothing to win with except to make lists. Republicans deal with issues.... If we started making lists we would run out of paper...
Riiiight. Republicans really did stuff during the Great Depression. You know, the whole "rugged individualism" and tear gassing veterans were a great solution.
Oh, and didn't a staunch conservative that you support say this not too long ago?
Actually, be more precise, it is another DEMOCRAT... Clinton, Condit, Spitzer, ther is a long line...
I guess they make lists too!

I suggest that alcohol has fried your brain....
From his blog, posted about the same time this was.... Both influenced by alcohol..
"I'm experiencing a hangover today after some "heavy" (by my standards) drinking yesterday evening. I hate the feeling of a hangover. It's the feeling of depression X 1000.
I have low alcohol tolerance. I suppose that's a good thing, but it also sucks to feel hung over and not want to do anything besides moap around my apartment and complain to everyone who will listen."

I'm guessing Brandre has been the one drinking (see below the actual date of my blog entry)....might explain why he misspelt his username...I'm sure he meant to write "Brandy" after his favourite nighttime drink.

Tags: Actually, my id is brandre, not to have some snob name like sir buntington, some ambiguous one to hide behind, or something like shitidiot but because it is BRANDt (The first 5 of my last name) and RE the first letters of my first and last name.
Unlike most of you I have the guts to be what I am because my ideas make some sense.
I am a total non-drinker, my lifetime drinking is less than 1/4 of a shot of whiskey. I think drunks are pathetic and dangerous... They should be locked up, automatically on being convicted of the first DUI, held for at least 2 weeks so they get the message. That included Brittany and the other hollywood trash.

Yes, unlike your difficulty with reading blog entries/replies, I can read your ID.
Yes, I'm sure your ideas make sense to right-wing bigots.
And, yes, I'm very impressed that you're willing to share your intolerance with the world, Mr. Loving Christian, and also glad that part of this loving Christianity you practice is to pick fights on the internet with people half your age and, when they react, direct nasty comments towards them.
Are you toilet trained as well?

I am a very loving christian, I just get tired of people who prey on others with their idiocy, their laziness that lets them steal from others by collecting welfare, their immorality that lets them father (and mother) children they have no intention to raise in a sane envoironent, that allows them to drink, do drugs so they harm others....
I love them enough to tell them they are ruining their lives.
Read the story of Sampson, is one night of pleasure worth a life time of blindness?

As in corporate subsidies/bailouts, political patronage?

Are you referring to yourself here?

Unlike you i don't discriminate. I make no distinction between forms of welfare. You call it corporate bailouts but tell me, how many little people would have been harmed if Chrysler were not helped in the 80's? You only see what you want to see, "There are none so blind as those who will not see."

Nice try.
You had written to another mindsayer:
"Spoken like someone who doesn't pay taxes... Are you an evader or on welfare??"
And continued to ridicule him with your welfare remark
You have also come on here defending the Republicans, a right-of-center party with strong ties to big business and big on social conservativism (i.e., anti welare/social assistance).
Then above you stated: "I just get tired of people who prey on others with their idiocy, their laziness that lets them steal from others by collecting welfare".
Phrases like "collecting welfare" generally implies receiving social assistance.
BUT how very naive of me to assume that you were referring to ALL welfare recipients <rolls eyes>
And you were the one who lectured: "Unlike most of you I have the guts to be what I am because my ideas make some sense".
Though, apparently not when you're backed into a corner...
"Unlike you i don't discriminate. I make no distinction between forms of welfare."
And unlike you, I don't utter glib remarks ad nauseum...
"You call it corporate bailouts but tell me, how many little people would have been harmed if Chrysler were not helped in the 80's? You only see what you want to see, 'There are none so blind as those who will not see.'"
Did I say all government subsidies were bad?
But, yes, I do see a fundamental difference with collecting welfare cheques and handing out millions (and in some cases billions) of tax payer money to bail out a failed company (and particularly when a chunk of that money invariably ends up in the coffers of the high level execs./parasites), and I do see the hypocrisy of Republicans lecturing about "personal responsibility" and then supporting a leader that engages in the most vile case of crass patronage and subsidization of corporate America probably ever witnessed in the history of this country. Not that this problem is restricted to the Republicans, but the hypocrisy is quite a bit more apparent.
"You only see what you want to see, "There are none so blind as those who will not see."
You are amusing to listen to, not only because of your delusion of grandeur but because of your persistence in making a complete arse of yourself.
Do continue to amuse me...

If I really amused you and you were not cut to the core by my statements you would have let this ride rather than taking a half hour or more to look up the things, take them out of context and present then..
Liberal sucking the liberal Kool Aide.

Yes, it was a colossal effort to expose the contradictions of your statements. I was completely exhausted from that (recalls rubbing sweat off forehead).
If I took your statements out of context, please show me how? I'm all ears.
<<<Liberal sucking the liberal Kool Aide.>>>
Now you've determined based on a couple comments I made on a blog site that I'm a "liberal" . How amusing. News to me, but nevertheless amusing.

Many liberals are so unaware they don;t even know htey are.

I have to agree with you on this. Democrat, Republican, The toilet bowl party... I don't trust politicans in general. The exception instead of the norm is one that doesn't get in to crap like this.
i agree.
why is this still news?
regular people do this stuff all the time.
so a politician does too?
well that sucks i guess.

Well, people still talk about Clinton's sex scandal like it was yesterday, so I think it's gonna take a while, even for a governor.
And I guess that the fact that (1) he said he was to fight prostitution, (2) people voted him into office to represent their views, and (3) he's a semi-famous dude. People really like to build people up just to watch them fall.

Spitzer should resign. You can't live in a glass house and not expect that some day a giant boulder's going to come flying through. He won't go to jail for being a hypocrite but he should go to jail for breaking the law. This is just a juicy break in between all the campaign news we've been bombarded with. After three weeks, our attention will be back on Hillary, Obama, and that other guy....
Actually, they have brought us into a lot of wars. WWI (Wilson), WWII (FDR), Korea (Truman), and Vietnam (JFK) were all started by Democrats.
I don't know that any of those wars were STARTED by democrats... but they sometimes they made them worse.
The good thing about Democrats regarding war... they don't abandon domestic issues for foreign ones, and they aren't afraid to raise the taxes to help pay for the war. Sure, high taxes are bad, but so is high debt....

Don't ask questions of me that are none of your business, please.
But neither of those things are true. I'm neither on welfare nor an evader.
Do you support war, want low taxes, and complain about too much spending? I suspect you do, as everything you say makes you sound like a hypocritical bastard.

You have maligned me, I have every right to ask who you are and what right you have to do that. I have it figured out, you are on welfare...
The man just expressly stated that he is neither on welfare nor an evader. Why ask such a silly question when you are simply going to refuse to believe him? In any event, why ask such a personal question that has nothing to do with Democrats & their tax habits? For heaven's sake, you are on a rampage of downright delirium. I sincerely pity you.
Most democrats are on hte dole... If they scream like a stuck hog when you tweek them, they are weither on the dole or they are eating out of the government trough...
I'm afraid you haven't figured anything out. And I mean anything. How do you function...?
This conversation helps me understand you better, though. I told you the truth about myself, and you couldn't believe it. You just leap all over the place with unfounded conclusions. This is another one. If I was on welfare, Brand, I wouldn't be embarrassed. I'd obviously need it if I was on it. Lord knows I could use the help.
But of course I sound contemptuous to you, because I don't like you and you don't deserve my respect. I gave you chances... more that you deserved. You failed to maintain any level of civility. You've shown me how you'd like to be treated, and I'll treat you that way.
But no, you don't have any right to ask who I am, nor question me about private information. That isn't a right at all. You don't get to ask me questions simply because I'm treating you the way you want to be treated.

Or...just someone who is rational about how the way to run things. A government is like a business when you think about it. But our major products right now are war, CO2, saturated fat, reality TV, and...um...pornography. We've really veered off from our original product, individual rights.

So, as I’m sure you know by now, the holier-than-thou Governor of New York and father of three daughters, Eliot Spitzer, aka “Client 9,” has been busted for his involvement in a prostitution ring.
